proactive in preparing to meet these new demands.

Matt Brandt, CEO, Multicare Associates of the Twin Cities
Most employers and patients are searching for a way to lower their healthcare costs without sacrificing
access, coverage or quality. As insurance premiums continue to rise, coverage seems to decline. Physicians
feel compelled to serve patients in ways dictated by insurance companies and are inundated with paperwork
Conference Agenda
while time available to spend with patients suffers. A new business model has emerged that addresses these
issues and keeps the focus on patient centered care, where a patient is the client and a true physician/patient
relationship is the key to success. Come learn about the emerging model termed as direct contracting or direct
pay care and a Twin Cities network of clinics launching their version of it, PrimaCare Direct.

Thomas N. Shorter, JD, FACHE, Godfrey & Kahn, S.C.
Many health care organizations are adopting Sustainability Initiatives as a method to enhance their reputation
with their patients and employees as well as to distinguish themselves from their competitors. These initiatives
also serve to enhance their financial “bottom line.” The EPA’s Clean Power Plan provides an additional reason
for health care institutions to consider sustainable energy initiatives. These initiatives include energy efficiency
and renewable energy strategies (e.g. solar, wind, biogas, biomass). Significant legal and financial issues arise
in the context of such initiatives. This session will provide tools for evaluating the legal and financial cost/
benefit of these initiatives being considered by health care organizations.
