First Responders and High-stress Workers – “Stopping the Stigma - Your Mental Health Depends on it” Who should attend: First Responders, Dispatchers, Medical Staff, Correctional Officers, Crisis Workers, Probation Officers, Teachers, Social Workers, Caseworkers for: Victim Services; Court; Family and Children’s Services; Sexual Assault; Domestic Violence; Addictions and Mental Health. Speakers: - Retired Police Sergeant Deb Bodkin, Waterloo Regional Police - Captain Rob Martin, Fire Station 2, Kitchener, ON - Nicole Taylor, Surgical Nurse Trauma Unit, Southlake Regional Health Centre, Newmarket, ON Each one will tell their story about Stress Related Work Injuries, Pitfalls, Prevention and why we should address the stigma that prevents first responders from seeking essential mental health help The afternoon will consist of a panel presentation of four local First Responders; Captain Brook Fairless, Brantford Fire Department, Detective Constable Jacob Isaacs, Six Nations Police, Randy Papple, Manager of Operations, Brant County Ambulance, Sergeant Jim Sawkins, Brantford Police, who will be delving deeper into the topic; including how first responders can collectively decrease the stigma of reaching out for help Where: Best Western Brant Park Inn, Grand Ballroom, 19 Holiday Drive, Brantford Ontario Time: 9:00 am to 4:30 pm.
