On Hell’s Kitchen, you deal with professional chefs. On MasterChef, it’s
amateurs. Is your approach different for the two groups? MasterChef
contestants want to learn and grow, so it’s less about the
outcome of the competition and more about the journey
these talented home cooks take. With Hell’s Kitchen
contestants, I am training them to run a kitchen in a
restaurant, so there’s more
pressure on them to do
well and show off their
qualities and skills.

An Oscar winner for her portrayal of a serial killer
in 2003’s Monster, Charlize Theron, 39, tackles
another gritty role as the nearly bald Imperator
Furiosa in Mad Max: Fury Road, which opened
this month. Playing opposite Tom Hardy, who’s
stepped into the boots first filled by Mel Gibson,
Theron says, “I just hate that idea of scrawny little
girls fighting men off and then winning. I looked
like a football player in this movie.”

his third season as Ryan Hardy on FOX’s

September in Black Mass, opposite Johnny

summer with sibling Michael and their Bacon

What has proven to be the biggest
difference between working with
kids (on MasterChef Junior) and
adults? A lot of the times, kids
will push themselves to
limits that adults won’t. In the beginning, you wonder if they are
going to understand how to make some of the
dishes we include in the challenges, but they
always do! Does your family see the same fiery personality we see
on TV? My kids know that I’m a perfectionist.
I’m passionate when it comes to cooking
and my work; but when it comes to
family, I’m the softie. I actually once
cried when my 13-year-old got
upset over her scrambled eggs!
When you’re with your family, what do you
eat? We cook at home a lot. We’ll
go to the market and pick up fresh,
seasonal produce. We eat a lot of
protein and vegetables.
With all that’s going on in your life—books,
TV, restaurants—do you ever take downtime?
Being active and physical training are
what I really love to do in my downtime.
I’m currently training for my next Kona
Ironman triathlon in October.

pulmonary disease (COPD) in adults. COPD is a chronic lung disease that includes
chronic bronchitis, emphysema, or both. ANORO ELLIPTA is used long term as
1 inhalation, 1 time each day, to improve symptoms of COPD for better breathing.
ANORO is not used to treat sudden symptoms of COPD and won’t replace a rescue
inhaler. ANORO is not for the treatment of asthma.
IMPORTANT SAFETY INFORMATION
• ANORO ELLIPTA is only approved for use in COPD.
ANORO is NOT approved for use in asthma.
• People with asthma who take long-acting beta2-adrenergic agonist (LABA)
medicines, such as vilanterol (one of the medicines in ANORO), have an
increased risk of death from asthma problems. It is not known if LABA
medicines increase the risk of death in people with COPD.
• Call your healthcare provider if breathing problems worsen over time
while using ANORO.
• Get emergency medical care if your breathing problems worsen quickly or if you
use your rescue inhaler but it does not relieve your breathing problems.
• Do not use ANORO to treat sudden symptoms of COPD. Always have a rescue
inhaler with you to treat sudden symptoms.
• ANORO is not for the treatment of asthma. It is not known if ANORO is safe and
effective in people with asthma.
• Do not use ANORO if you have a severe allergy to milk proteins or any of the
ingredients in ANORO. Ask your healthcare provider if you are not sure.
• Do not use ANORO more often than prescribed.

varieties, including regular, sweet, hot and smoked. Smoked paprika
is traditionally used in paella to give a smoky flavor, although you can
substitute other types in this recipe.

smoked pork or chicken

When you reach down for items with one hand, balance yourself by
lifting your opposite leg in the air and placing your other hand on a
nearby surface. The deeper you reach with your arm, the higher the
opposite leg should go so that you keep your balance while simultaneously reducing the strain on your back muscles.
When using both hands to lift the laundry basket, keep your back
straight and bend at your knees and hips. Stand with a wide stance
close to the basket and keep your feet firmly on the ground. Tighten
your stomach muscles and lift using your leg muscles. Straighten
your knees in a steady motion.
