Happy June everyone, All May shows did great. English / Western shows keep growing and growing. We still have a lot of work to do on the trail course. Tom is back from his John Wayne adventure so we can get started back on that. As soon as we have a date we will send it out to let everyone know. It's so nice to have a big group for the work parties. It is greatly appreciated. Please consider volunteering at the English / Western shows and there are only three left. Even if you can only come for a few hours it helps. Anybody can help and they are always looking for some. I know there are a lot of schools where the kids need to do volunteer hours. This would be a great place to do it and you would have it done before the school year started. Please think about it. Hope everyone is getting out on their horses and riding. The weather has been beautiful. Happy Trails to you! Julie Winkler President Hollywood Hill Saddle Club Show Calendar 2015 DRESSAGE SHOWS 2 out of 3 shows qualifies for year end awards Saturday, August 15 Saturday, September 26 ENGLISH/WESTERN SHOWS 2 out of 4 shows qualifies but the best 3 shows will count towards Year End Awards Saturday, June 13 Saturday, July 11 Saturday, August 8—Pink Show/Cancer fundraiser GAMES SHOWS (registration opens 8am) 4 out of 6 shows qualifies for year end awards Sunday, June 28 Sunday, July 26 Sunday, August 23 Sunday, September 27 HUNTER/JUMPER DAYS Sunday, July 19—Show ANNUAL AWARDS BANQUET POTLUCK November 22, 4pm to 7pm Hunter/Jumper Update [email protected] The entry period for the July 19th show starts June 10. Please enter early so we can plan accordingly. Don’t forget – all first places get a $15.00 Olson’s card, overall Hunter and Jumper Champions get $50.00 ones, and the Jumper Division has stakes classes with return of your entry fee for first at every level (along with the Olson’s Certificate). Please see our Web page: Hollywoodhillsaddleclub.com for the registration form, rules, classes and chances to volunteer. All profits are being donated to Little Bit. If that is not enough, we’ll have the auction going as well. All proceeds go directly to Little Bit. You can bid, or simply “buy it now” and take it home without the fussing. You may also want to check on whether an item you are interested in will be offered during the hunter (morning) or jumper (afternoon) part of the show. You have your choice of many great things – just see the chart of sponsors below. Our Website for the auction (not totally up to date yet, but getting there) helps you figure that out. It is at https://www.biddingforgood.com/HHSCLittleBit. You do not need to be present to win. At this point though, we are still operating on cash and checks – we are working on credit cards That is the fun part. We also need volunteers. A BIG thank you to Kimberly Lance of Kimberly Lance Horsemanship Training and her students who are riding in the show. They and have volunteered to help set downed rails and help raise the course. Even a barely gone Amy Mckenna is flying in from Michigan to man the in-gate. The person in charge of Fund Raising at Little Bit has volunteered to “do whatever” (manage the auction – what else?). So if you think you can help – set jumps the day before, help with jumps the day of, or be the out gate person who keeps track of the ribbons and scoring position for high point (probably on a new table), please let me know: [email protected] or 206-783-5620. We can arrange work in shifts, and I can arrange to sign community service forms for those who need them and contact other division managers to report your hours to them if you are a member. Riders, if you have questions not answered on our web site (HollywoodHillSaddleClub.com) or Facebook page (www.facebook.com/HollywoodHillSaddleClub), please do the same. Please do check out the Open Card System Explanation that we will be using it at the show to make it run faster so you will be familiar with it. We are thrilled to benefit Little Bit Therapeutic Riding Center. Let’s bring in some bucks for the great work they do. Come yourself, tell your friends, bring your barn. In support of our efforts, our cook shack will be open for our famous burgers and other treats, and parking, as always, is free (although please park carefully to allow for as many trailers as possible, and if you are only coming to the auction try not to take a trailer spot). You have the following sponsors to choose from so far, and we highly thank them for their participation in this benefit: Katherine Wade Easley Sundance Equestrian Center Riding Lessons and Training 18221 236th Avenue Northeast Woodinville, WA 98077 www.sundanceequestrian.com (425) 205-3775 Britta Brediger Real Living Northwest Realtors 18106 102nd Ave. NE Bothell, Washington 98011 [email protected] Sasquatch Books http://www.sasquatchbooks.c om Contemporary and local author cook books. We still have about 6 members who have not turned in a worker card at the end of the show. Also please check your placing’s during the show. Corrections will not be made if we do not know of the errors before the end of the day. The next games show is scheduled for June 28th. Becky Sexton Barrels GREAT NEWS!!!! We are having TWO races this coming July 12th and August 30th. Its going to be a little different than the Wednesday night races but just as much fun and we will have Chris from Dominos pizza at both of these events.. You can call ahead and order what you want and Chris will bring it, or you can just wing it and get what he brings to the races.. He always has pizza and Soda but we can ask him to bring wings or whatever the demand is, so please support him and eat with us on those barrel dates. Ok now to the details of the races... We are going to co sanction with WBRA and NBHA (pending approval from the district director) if we do not get approval we will have a Jackpot 5 D to follow the WBRA race.. Not to start before 130pm on both days For those of you that have no idea on what WBRA is or NBHA not to worry we are hear to answer all of your questions and help. WBRA (Washington barrel racing association) runs a bit different than our 5D Jackpot races. But it gives everyone a chance to win money. The novice classes are if your horse has not won more than the class you are entering. Novice classes are as follows. 2000,1000,500,250,100 Example if your horse has not won over 100.00 in his lifetime earnings you can enter the 100 novice class. But you can also enter all of the other novice classes too if you would like.. Lets say your horse has won 275.00 in life time earning. You could not enter the 250 or the 100 as the LTE are more than the class entered.. But you can enter the higher classes. What does LTE (life time earning) entail? All Money won in the horses career including games, show, trail, barrels, any and all money the horse has won. NOT THE RIDER!! Now for the rest of the classes for WBRA. Open, Jackpot, Jr, and youth. (Jr is 12 and under) and (Youth is 1318,) Open and Jackpot races are fasted time wins and will pay so many spots depending on how many entries we get. Not like the 5 d where we break it down into divisions. Nation Barrel Horse Association (NBHA) is run just like our 5D Jackpot races but we will not have the option of a re ride like our Wednesday night races. Open race followed by Youth and Senior This will be only a single race to be held after the WBRA race and not to begin before 130pm We are working on sponsors to have added money in each race so if you would like to sponsor us this year please let me know so we can get you all signed up and have your business announced at the shows. These races are just for money to win and not for year end awards like last year.. If we get a lot of sponsors we may have day awards but that will be determined of how much money we have donated to these races. For more details about the WBRA race you can visit the website at http://www.wbra.net/ We will be taking pre entries for both of these races on July 9th from 8am-8pm and August 27th from 8am 8pm Send those to [email protected] or [email protected] *note we WILL NOT ACCEPT FACEBOOK ENTRIES so please email you entry with what class and rider horse combo. We are excited to bring back Barrel this year and look forward to seeing all of you at the races.. July 12 and Aug 30 Time only's will be from 830-10:15 $4 each or 3 for 10$ we will have them again if time allows between the WBRA and the NBHA/Jackpot Race begins at 11 AM and the NBHA /Jackpot not to being before 130PM Karen Yuckert Questions please email me at [email protected] or call me at (206)910-4192
