Issue no. 18
Home-Start North Somerset is a voluntary organisation which provides support to families
with at least one child under five, who may be facing a difficult time. We recruit, train and
support volunteers who visit the family in their own home on a weekly basis, offering
support, friendship and practical assistance. We accept referrals from many agencies as well
as self-referrals. We supported 59 families and recruited 19 volunteers during 2014-15. If
you are interested in becoming a volunteer or would like further information please contact
our office on: 01934 419396 or [email protected]

VOLUNTEER SUPPORT SESSION
2nd June 2015
Our next VSS will be held on Tuesday 2nd June
at the Society of Friends Meeting House,
15 Albert Road, Clevedon from 10-11.30am.
Shaun Cheeseman from North Somerset Council
is coming to give advice about Child Accident
Prevention and then one of our volunteers will
talk about Type 1 diabetes and its symptoms.
It is also National Volunteer Week 1-7 June, so
please come and join your fellow volunteers to
celebrate how great it is to volunteer!
What families tell us about their volunteers:
‘It made us realise we could deal with going out and having
more fun together’
‘It allowed the children to have one to one support and
playtime – which they loved – especially my toddler!’
‘The volunteer shared some very special times with us…
she was a ray of sunshine.’
‘I would like to have had her support forever, but recognise
we can manage now. Another family will be very lucky to
have her’
‘She was calm, friendly and bonded with the children
instantly’
