RAJAB HAS BEGUN, ARE YOU RECITING THE FOLLOWING DUA FREQUENTLY:
Rajab
Rajab is the seventh month of the Islamic Calendar.
The meaning of Rajab: - The lexical definition of Rajaba is "to respect", which is where the word Rajab
has been deprived from.
This month is regarded as one of the four sacred months in Islam in which battles are prohibited. The
pre-Islamic Arabs also considered warfare blasphemous during the four months.
Events of Rajab: - The Holy Prophet SAW ascended to the Heavens on the 27th of Rajab (Mi'raaj).
-Hadhrat Bilal Ibn Haritha (R.A) brought a congregation of four hundred men named Banu Muzeenain
the presence of the Holy Prophet SAW. They all embraced Islam in the year 5 A.H.
-The battle of Tabook took place in the year 9 A.H. This was the last battle which the Holy
Prophet SAW participated in.
-The second Oath of Aqabah took place in Rajab, 12 A.H.
Deaths in Rajab:-Imam Abu Hanifa (R.A) passed away on the 15th of Rajab 150 A.H.
-Imam Shafi'ee (R.A) passed away on the 14th Rajab 204 A.H.
-Imam Muslim (R.A) passed away on the 24th of Rajab 261 A.H.
-Imam Nawawee (R.A) passed away on the 14th of Rajab 677 A.H.

Reflections!
Alhamdulillah, time, age & health are all blessings of Allah upon us. Hence, we have been blessed
through the mercy of Allah to be graced with these three sacred months; Rajab, Sha’baan & Ramadhan. There were many of our near and dear ones with us last year and they will no more live another
Ramadhan. So let us seize the moment, for every moment is an opportunity. We observe from the life
of our beloved prophet Muhammad SAW how he anticipated and appreciated these valuable, precious and sacred months, by preparing in advance and reciting the dua already at the onset of Rajab.
Let us optimise and begin preparing towards Ramadhan by beginning or increasing our recital of
Quraan, nafl salaah, nafl fasts, thikr etc.
As our pious predecessors illustrate to us that Rajab is a month to sow the seeds by increasing our
good actions, Sha’baan is a month to water the seeds with tears of regret upon our sins and Ramadhan is a month of reaping Allah’s pleasure and seeking forgiveness for our past sins.
Rajab – R – Realise responsibility
Sha’baan – S – Submit sincerely
Ramadhan – R – Reap rewards
“the coolness of my eyes lies in salaah” (Prophet SAW)
THE GIFT OF MI’RAAJ
It was on the occasion of Mi’raaj where Nabi SAW was blessed with the gift of 5 salaah. Salaah occupies a great status in Islam. It is the pilar of our deen.It is second in status to the testimony of faith. It is
the first thing for which a person will be brought to account on the Day of Resurrection.
Quraan
"Verily, Salaah (prayer) is enjoined on the believers at fixed hours." [Surah an-Nisa' 4:103]
Hadith
Abu Hurairah (radiallahu anhu) reported: The Messenger of Allah (sallallahu alayhi wa salalm)
said, "The first of man's deeds for which he will be called to account on the Day of Resurrection will be Salaah. If it is found to be perfect, he will be safe and successful; but if it is incomplete, he will be unfortunate and a loser. If any shortcoming is found in the obligatory
Salaah, the Glorious and Exalted Lord will command to see whether His slave has offered
any voluntary Salaah so that the obligatory Salaah may be made up by it. Then the rest of his
actions will be treated in the same manner.''[At-Tirmidhi].

Ibn Mas`ud (radiallahu anhu) reported: I asked the Messenger of Allah (sallallahu alayhi wasalam): "Which
act is the best?'' He (SAW) said, "Salaah at their fixed times.'' I asked, "What next?'' He (SAW)
said, "Being dutiful to parents.'' I asked, "What next?'' He (SAW) said, "Striving (Jihad) in the way of
Allah.''[Al-Bukhari and Muslim]

Question:
While drinking milk, if a baby vomits milk and the vomit lands on your clothes, can you offer your salaah like
this? If not, what must you do before you can offer salaah?
Answer:
In the Name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.
In principle, if one vomits a mouthful, the vomit will be impure. If, on the other hand, one vomits less than a
mouthful, the vomit will be pure. This applies equally to the vomit of an adult and the vomit of a baby.
Therefore, if the baby vomits less than a mouthful (the baby’s mouth will be taken into consideration, not an
adult’s mouth), the vomit will be pure; and therefore if this vomit came on someone’s clothes, he/she can offer
salaah without washing off the vomit from his/her clothes.
If, on the other hand, the baby vomits more than a mouthful, the vomit will be impure. If all or part of this vomit
lands on someone’s clothes, he/she will have to see to what extent the vomit spread on the clothes. If the vomit
spread on the clothes to an area of 2.75 cm in diameter (approx. size of a 50 cents coin) or less, it will be permissible for to perform salaahwithout washing off the vomit, although it will be preferable to wash off the vomit
before offering the salaah. If, however, the vomit spread on the clothes to an area of more than 2.75 cm in diameter, it will not be permissible to offer salaah without washing off the vomit. If the vomit is scattered on the
clothes at a few places, all the besmeared areas will be combined to see if it equals to more than 2.75 cm in diameter.
The rulings mentioned above are only applicable if the baby vomited milk after the milk went to the stomach
(even for a brief moment). If the baby spewed milk when the milk was still in his mouth or when it only reached
his throat, the spewed milk will be pure. The method of purifying the clothes is to wash the clothes until the
vomit and its traces have disappeared. [Reference: Fatawa Mahmudiya: 5/227; Raddul Muhtaar: 1/138 HM
