Workshops - 2015 Review of the
Victorian Charter of Human Rights
These workshops will help you inform the current review of the Victorian Charter of Human
Rights. They will provide information about the Charter and how to prepare a submission, and
will give you an opportunity to share your experiences.
Your clients will benefit from improved human rights protection and your input is important –
whether or not you currently use the Charter regularly in your work.
Workshops:
Tuesday 12 May, 10.30am-12.30pm
Session for community legal centres and others familiar with
using the Charter in their work with clients
Thursday 14 May, 2.30-4.30pm
Open session for community sector workers including
CLC workers less familiar with the Charter
Wednesday 20 May, 1–4pm
Session for VCOSS members including consultation on the
VCOSS submission to the Charter Review

Background to the Review
On 2 March, the Victorian Attorney-General announced the terms of reference for the 2015 review of the
Charter of Human Rights and Responsibilities Act 2006, to be lead by Michael Brett Young.
The review team has now called for submissions and released a brief consultation paper
(https://myviews.justice.vic.gov.au/2015-review-of-the-charter-of-human-rights). Written submissions are
due on 4 June 2015.
We invite you to one of three sessions where we will discuss your experience with the Charter and how you
can contribute to this important review, either by making your own submission or contributing to the
Federation of Community Legal Centres or VCOSS submissions.
