•This report provides the profession with a Vision for where
we need to be, it identifies what nurses and services require
to deliver contemporary evidence based care.
•Provides strategic direction for the further development of
the role of the Psychiatric Nurse in the Irish mental health
services. It will strengthen both clinical nursing practice and
leadership within a person centred, community based,
recovery orientated multidisciplinary environment
• It sets a clear and informed road map for the profession for
the years ahead to respond to service users needs and
choices
•It provides the profession with a template from which we can
work from and measure our progress
