Shrikant J. Chinchalkar OTR, CHT
is a hand therapist at the Hand & Upper Limb
Centre, St. Joseph’s Health Centre in London, Ontario, Canada. He has over 35 years
of clinical experience in treating upper extremity conditions. Shrikant has conducted
instructional courses at the IFSHT, ASSH,
AASH, ASHT, Australian Hand Therapy Association, South African Society of Hand
Therapists and Canadian Association of Occupational Therapists’ annual meetings. He
has presented papers and has conducted
courses on “Hand and Upper Extremity Rehabilitation” in North and South America, South
Africa, Europe, Asia, Australia and New Zealand. He was invited as an international
speaker by a number of hand therapy societies in the world.
Shrikant was awarded the 2003 “Paul Brand
Award of Excellence in Hand Therapy” by
the American Society of Hand Therapists. He
received the “Best Clinical Paper” and “Best
Poster Presentation” awards at the annual
meetings of ASHT and an “Award of Excellence” by the Sisters of St. Joseph’s Hospital
in London, Ontario. He has published papers and abstracts in numerous journals related to Upper Extremity Surgery and Therapy.

Course Objectives
- Understand the anatomy of brachial plexus and peripheral
nerves
- Understand biological and physiological consequences of
nerve trauma, neuropathies
and the healing process
- Be able to sequentially assess
nerve dysfunctions in various
regions of upper extremity
- Systematically design treatment
and splinting program for brachial plexus and peripheral
nerve injuries
