Job Description POSITION DETAILS Faculty/Department Faculty of Sport & Health Sciences Job Title Sports Therapy Intern Grade Grade 2, fixed point 5 Hours of Work Variable, up to 20 hours per week Contract Duration 8th June 2015 to 18th September2015 Reports To Head of Department £8.41 per hour + 12% holiday pay THE POST Determination of Sports Therapy intern duties will normally be achieved by consultation between the Head of Sport and Health Sciences, Sports Therapy Programme Leader, clinic manager and the postholder(s). The main function of the post is to:• provide sports therapy treatment to clients attending the sports therapy clinic; • maintain the operating procedures of the sports therapy clinic as detailed by the Sports Therapy Programme Leader and Clinic Manager. MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES 1. To include clinical practice, diagnosis, treatment and monitoring of clients. 2. Ensure that equipment in the sports therapy clinic is in good working order. 3. Maintain a safe sport therapy clinic environment and ensure that safety procedures and risk assessments are correctly followed. 4. Maintain clinic security e.g. ensure doors/windows are locked when clinic is not in use. 5. Maintain records of clients and equipment servicing. Keep equipment manuals in an ordered filing system. 6. Undertake other sports therapy duties as requested. First degree (sport therapy / sports rehabilitation), or in the final year of completion 2. Working knowledge of sport therapy / sports rehabilitation practices, protocols & clinical procedures 3. Excellent communication skills (written and oral) 4. Preparation and support of clinical practice and clinic organisation, maintenance and cleanliness 5. Planning and organising own work 6. Managing resources (sports therapy / sports rehabilitation consumables) 7. Role holder must have knowledge of ICT systems, procedures and practices specific to the sport therapy and/or rehabilitation discipline 8. Application of theory specific to sports therapy and/or rehabilitation practice 9. Excellent inter-personal skills 10. Flexibly, ability to work under pressure, self-motivated and highly organised 11. Able to work independently and as part of a technical support team 1. First Aid certificate 2.
