Nepal Appeal
A big thank you to our school community for the tremendous effort made to raise
money for the dreadful tragedy in Nepal. Thanks to your generosity we have raised
over £300. In addition to donations for mufti day, the children used spare coins to
create a money map of Nepal. A special assembly was held
and afterwards the children also created prayer flags with
heartfelt messages…we hope you had the chance to read them!
SATs week
We have been so impressed by our Year 6 pupils during SATs week. They have
taken the whole week very seriously, concentrated well and been very positive…despite beforehand
feeling that it was all very nerve racking!!! The papers have been parcelled up and sent off to be marked.
Results will be in the children’s reports at the end of term. Fingers crossed!

Here are a few sample questions from the papers for you to try…
Maths Level 3-5
1. Liam has 5 coins. Three of the coins add up to 30p. Three of the coins add up to 40p. All of the coins
add up to £1. What are the coins that Liam has?
2. The difference between 2 numbers is 2. When each number is rounded to the nearest hundred, the
difference between them is 100. Write what the two numbers could be?
Spelling, Punctuation and Grammar Levels 3-5
1. Insert a pair of commas to clarify the meaning of the following sentence. The hotel since it
opened has become very popular.
2. What word class is before in the following sentence. Make sure you come home before six.
Somerset Area Cross Country Championships
Congratulations to both Harriet Axford and Kati Wren who were selected to run for the Langport area
team. Both put in strong performances and we are proud of them!
Rag Rug We desperately need some help to complete our rag rug. If any parents can
spare an odd hour next week, to help, we would be very grateful. It needs to be
completed by the end of next week!
HEPS Election
As part of the recent run up to the election, Kingsmoor class took the opportunity to
learn about democracy and party politics and all of the children had a chance to find out what it was like
to vote in an election.
Kati, Michal and Alice write…….
First of all we all formed our own parties. There were 4 members of each party. We decided on our
manifesto, in other words what we were campaigning for. We gave ourselves roles such as party leader,
campaign organiser, designer and party worker. After that we came up with a party name and colour and
creating our publicity posters. Party leaders had to write a speech to persuade children to vote for our
party. Our parties won the election within our class and then we went out to campaign across the school
My party was called the PNP (Pink National Party). We
campaigned for more use of I-pads in class, rewards for the best
behaved students, more clubs and to go on the field more (all
seasons). We also came up with the idea of holding a ‘Onesie’ day.

My party was called the SATE party( Schools and the Environment party). We
wanted to have more use of the outside environment during the school day.
We thought there should be more trees to plant and in time we would like tree
houses for role play and relaxation. We suggested new clubs such as fishing,
canoeing and kayaking. We would like to have ‘Bring your pet’ to school days.
Our party colour was lime green and our slogan was ‘Animals are just as
important as us’. (Alice Guskov)
My party was MMF…which stands for Much More Fun party. We wanted
more time on the field, more trees with tree houses for relaxation. We
also wanted a paddling pool on the field and more school trips to places
such as Greatwood and Wookey Hole for caving.We wanted more equipment
on our filed such as tyre tag and obstacle courses. We wanted more clubs
outside such as football and cricket. Our party colour was dark green.

Sainsburys Active Kids Vouchers
Sainsburys have now stopped issuing vouchers in their stores and so please send in any vouchers that you
have at home as soon as possible. We would like to organise a final count and then package all vouchers up
so we can order some more much needed play equipment.
