In 2017 the eyes of the world will be on Hull as it becomes UK City of Culture. The delivery organisation
for the project, Hull 2017, has been set up to produce 365 days of transformative culture during 2017
through a programme of high profile events and projects.
We have created an exciting new role of Head of Corporate Partnerships to be responsible for
developing and managing commercial partnerships and revenue for Hull 2017. As a key part of the
Partnerships & Development team you will lead on developing opportunities for commercial
organisations across the city and beyond to get involved.
Based in Hull and with travel to other cities across the UK, you will have significant experience in
corporate fundraising, ideally gained within an arts and cultural context. You will have a track record of
proven success in fundraising/sponsorship in these areas, be confident and entrepreneurial, able to instil
a sense of credibility, and create and pitch the Hull 2017 proposition and opportunities, with a deep
understanding of successful corporate partnerships. This is a fantastic opportunity to be at the forefront of helping to plan, co-ordinate and implement new
fundraising and partnership activity for a high profile project.
The Role
Reporting to the Director of Partnerships & Development, you will be responsible for leading the
management and development of relationships and revenue from corporates and high net worth
individuals. You will identify and approach companies in Hull and across the UK to initiate partnership
discussions and identify opportunities. In addition to establishing partner opportunities you will also be
responsible for managing ongoing partnership activity and activation.
Your skills in communication and relationship management are outstanding. You can demonstrate your
ability to innovate and help shape new funding opportunities, and achieve fundraising targets whilst
ensuring internal and external stakeholders are connected and inspired.
The role requires an individual who can work across teams and arts and cultural organisations to lead
partnership activity. We want to develop and diversify the funding base in Hull so that we’re well
placed to grow the arts and cultural sector into the future. The role of Head of Corporate
Partnerships will have responsibility for developing initiatives related to corporate partnerships, including
corporate social responsibility, employee engagement and other activations. Ferens Art Gallery: Hull Museums
Key Accountabilities
Required Skills and Experience

Work with the Director of Partnerships &
Development to implement the strategic plan to
raise income from corporates and individuals for
2017 and its legacy
G
Develop a plan to maximise income from
corporates and individuals, agreeing income
targets and potential partners
G
Create a comprehensive prospect list of corporates
and individuals G
Prepare fundraising proposals to the highest
professional level
G
Explore and establish a variety of income streams,
strategic partnerships, partnership/sponsorship
packages etc to ensure income targets are met
G
Ensure that all partnership approaches are
consistently well researched, presented, and
followed through
G
Create partnerships with key suppliers and
manufacturers to provide value-in-kind to Hull 2017
G
Prepare and negotiate partnership agreements
G
Manage ongoing relationships with partners,
including regular meetings and the preparation and
submission of funding and evaluation reports
G
Monitor and report against agreed income targets
G
Represent Hull 2017 at external events/
conferences and act as an ambassador for Hull
2017, protecting and promoting its reputation at all
times
G
Manage all partner activations
G
Manage all day-to-day elements of the
partnerships including acting as first point of
contact with the partners
G
Plan and help organise events to cultivate and
maintain relationships with partners
G
Undertake any other duties as may be reasonably
required by the Director of Partnerships &
Development.

Of graduate calibre and with a minimum five years’
experience of corporate sponsorship, ideally within
the arts and cultural sector
G
A proven track record in securing major (six and
seven-figure) corporate partnerships
G
Well established network of active corporates and
supporters within the arts and cultural sector
G
Excellent interpersonal skills, including persuasion,
diplomacy, networking and ability to represent the
organisation effectively to senior decision makers
and high profile individuals
G
Experience of building strategic partnership
relationships, ideally with blue-chip companies,
and the ability to identify prospective donors
through research or networking G
In depth knowledge of the UK corporate sector
G
An understanding and knowledge of tax and legal
issues affecting the cultural sector
G
Excellent written and spoken communication skills,
with the ability to create innovative and persuasive
presentations and proposals
G
Excellent account management skills, with the
ability to build strong relationships with a portfolio
of corporate and individual clients at all partnership
levels
G
Outstanding planning, project management and
organisational skills, including the ability to deliver
to multiple priorities whilst retaining a thorough
attention to detail
G
Experience and ability to lead on fundraising
events, special events planning and management
G
To be literate and proficient in IT skills including
Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
G
Able to work evening and weekend hours as
required.
