Deadlines & Fees:
Early Registration Deadline: Received by Tuesday, May 26, 2015 - $175
Late Registration Deadline: Received by Monday, June 1, 2015 - $225
Registration may end sooner if tournament fills. Space is limited!
AAU membership is not included in the price of the entry fee. Any checks that are returned NSF will be
charged a $45 fee. No entry fees will be refunded after the final deadline date. Payments can be
made with check, VISA, Discover, MasterCard & American Express. Make checks Payable to Kennewick
Parks and Recreation.

Saturday & Sunday: 8:00am, 9:00am, 10:00am, 11:00am, 12:00pm, 1:00pm, 2:00pm, 3:00pm,
4:00pm, 5:00pm, 6:00pm

Boys/Girls Grades : 4th, 5th, 6th, 7th, & 8 . (In grades 4-8 during 2014-2015 School Year)
AAU Membership:
This event is sanctioned by the Amateur Athletic Union of the U.S., Inc. All participants must have a
current AAU membership before the event begins. Participants must visit the AAU website
(www.aausports.org) to obtain their membership. BE PREPARED! Adult and Non Athlete memberships
are no longer instant. Please allow 10 days for adult memberships to be processed.

AAU Membership Fees: Player $14 / Coach $16
All players and coaches must have an AAU Card. If it is found that a player is participating without a
current AAU card, your team will be subject to forfeits of games with no refund of tournament fees
paid. REMEMBER: Membership cards don’t get you into the game for free. Only players
that are playing are allowed into the game free.
The Lystedt Law:
Washington State has passed a law requiring youth coaches, athletes and parents/guardians complete
certain criteria regarding the recognition and treatment of head injuries during sporting events. ALL
PARTICIPATING TEAMS must complete the attached form and return it to the Inland Empire AAU office
with the tournament entry form. We only need 1 form per team per year!

Rules of Play:
A player may play for only ONE team during tournament play.
Girls cannot play on boys teams and boys cannot play on girls teams.
Players cannot wear jewelry of any kind during games, even if it is taped and/or covered up.
Players cannot switch teams once games have started.
We reserve the right to refuse a team’s entry into our events.
Scorekeepers – each team is to have ONE person to keep the individual score sheet that is provided in
your coaches’ packet. One scorekeeper per team will be allowed into the game free of charge. Please
leave scoresheets with the gym supervisor after your game.
Coaches – Only ONE coach per team is allowed into the game free, but more than one may coach.
Admission – The gyms are run by clubs and the proceeds from admissions goes back to their clubs for
youth activities. Friday: Adults $3, Students $2. Saturday: Adults $4, Students $3. Sunday: Adults
$4, Students $3. PLEASE INFORM YOUR PARENTS!
2014-2015 High School Federation Rules will be used with the following exceptions:
1. Warm Ups: 10 minutes or until the next game time, whichever is longer. Gym will be open 30 minutes
before the start of the first game. Do not start games early! Fans who arrive on time would
like to see the start of the first quarter, not the start of the second quarter!
2. Forfeits: Forfeit time is game time. No exceptions. If a team shows up late, the officials will work
a short game with running clock in order to be ready for the next scheduled game. You must start
with 5 players.
3. Basketballs: 4th – 6th grade boys and 4th grade girls teams and up will use the 28.5” ball (women’s
Size). Boys 7th grade and up will use the 30” (men’s size) ball.
4. Halves: Running Clock – 4th - 5th Grade: two 15 minute halves running clock. 6th - 8th
Grade: two 18 minute halves running clock . The clock will stop for all grades the last 2 minutes of the
Game only.
5. No 30 second shot clock. Over and back line in use with a 10 second backcourt count.
6. NEW Press Rule: 4th – 8th Grade: No full court press once your team is up by more than 15 points.
Your team must retreat back inside the 3 point arc until opponent crosses the center line with the ball,
then you are allowed to play defense. The offense has the option to cross the center line at any time,
however the 10 second backcourt count only starts when the defensive team is behind the 3 point arc.
7. Technical Fouls:
a. Each counts as 1 of 5 personal fouls on a player and 1 team foul.
b. Automatic 2 points and the ball awarded out of bounds. No free throws.
c. One sportsmanship technical on a coach or fan and they are ejected from the gym. One
sportsmanship technical on a player and they are required to sit on the bench for the
remainder of the game. After a second technical on a player, they will be removed for the
remainder of the tournament.
d. If a coach or fan that has been ejected from the game does not leave the gym (including
standing in the doorway and watching the game) or continues to question the official after
the foul has been called, he/she will receive a second technical foul and will not be allowed
to coach or watch the next tournament game. The team will be subject to disqualification
from the tournament with no refund of fees paid if the coach or fan returns.
8. Intentional Fouls: Two points and the ball awarded out of bounds.
9. Half Time: 5 minutes
10. Overtime: 2 minute overtime. Play until a winner is determined.
Tie Breakers
1. In any situation where two teams are tied, head to head competition between the two teams will
determine the winner.
2. If more than two teams are tied, a point differential tie breaker will be used. The point differentials
between the teams involved in the tie are totaled. Teams are then ranked according to the sum of
the point differential with the highest number placing first and the second highest placing second,
etc.
3. If more than two teams are still tied after the point differential formula, the point differentials from the
teams not involved are added and the results recalculated.
4. If two teams are still tied, both teams will be awarded the championship. In cases of advancement,
a coin toss will determine the winner.
5. The maximum you can beat a team and still gain an advantage in the tie breaker is 15 points.
6. The score of all forfeits shall be 15-0.
Reminders
1. No jewelry or hair clips are allowed during games. Taping earrings or hair clips is not OK. Be sure
to take out all earrings and hair clips and take off necklaces and bracelets.
2. We reserve the right to refuse any team’s entry in to our events.

CONCUSSION LAW REQUIREMENTS
Club Compliance Statement
HB1824, otherwise known as the Zachery Lystedt Law, was signed into law on May 14, 2009. It requires, as of July
26, 2009, that additional steps be taken regarding concussions in private non-profit youth athletic programs using
school district facilities.
This bill requires training and documentation which AAU Member Clubs must adhere to. AAU players and their
parents/guardians must meet these minimum requirements:
1. All AAU member coaches will have to take training on the nature and risk of concussions and head injury
including continuing to play after a concussion or head injury.
2. On a yearly basis, a concussion and head injury information sheet shall be signed and returned by the youth
athlete and athlete's parents/guardian prior to the youth athlete's initiating practice or competition.
3. All athletes suspected of suffering a concussion or brain injury will be removed from practice or competition and
not returned to play until cleared in writing by a licensed health care provider trained in the evaluation and
management of concussions (Medical Doctors, Doctor of Osteopathy, Advanced Registered Nurse Practitioner,
Physicians Assistants, and Certified Athletic Trainers).
