An I-‐20 or DS-‐2019 cannot be issued until UCSC has received evidence of the student’s financial ability to meet all expenses (educational costs and living expenses) during the course of study. Funds must come from a dependable source: scholarships, fellowships, sponsoring agencies, personal funds, or family funds. Stocks, bonds, mutual funds, or similar are not acceptable. Note that F-‐1 or J-‐1 international students do not qualify for in-‐state tuition. You will not be eligible to receive any federal financial aid from the University; do not plan to work in U.S. to meet your financial needs. You will also need to provide proof of funding to the U.S. consulate or embassy during the visa application process. SECTION A. PROOF OF FUNDING REQUIREMENTS.
