Making Advocacy Work for Everyone
Inclusion North and NHS North East are running some
workshops about advocacy.
They will look at:
 What we have learnt so far about advocacy services
 Ideas for delivering good advocacy in the future
The workshops are for advocacy providers and
commissioners.

No Voice Unheard, No Right Ignored
Inclusion North is running this workshop about the Green
Paper with the Yorkshire and Humber Families Network.
It is mainly for family members but self-advocates are
welcome too.
At this workshop you will be able to:
 Find out more about the No voice unheard, no right
ignored consultation
 Have a chance to think about and talk about the ideas
in the paper from the Government
 Find out how you can contribute to the ideas that the
Government has
The date and time of the workshop is:

10.00am until 3.00pm
The meeting will take place in Leeds City Centre

National Politics and the LB Bill Workshop
Inclusion North are running a workshop about national
politics to provide you with some information about how
politics work in our country and what you can do to get
involved.
We also want to share information with you about the
Justice for LB (Laughing Boy) campaign and the ideas that
they have about how the law can be changed so that
people with a learning disability and their families are
listened to by the Government, NHS and councils.
The workshop will take place in Leeds on
Tuesday 28th April 2015

Survey for Self Advocates
Inclusion North are doing a survey to find out what life is
like for self advocates.
We want to understand what has got better or worse for
people and how Inclusion North can help.

Mental Health Act - Code of Practice
The Mental Health Act is the main law that covers the
assessment, treatment and rights of people with a mental
health disorder.
Being detained (also known as sectioned) under the Mental
Health Act means that you are made to stay in hospital for
assessment or treatment.
It is important that you know what happens to you when
you are detained, what your rights are and where you can
get help.
The Mental Health Act Code of Practice tells people and
services how to use this law and what they must do.

Making Health and Social Care Information
Accessible
NHS England have been working on making information
about health and social care accessible
There was a consultation last year. They have published a
report including easy read and audio versions that tells you
about the standard and what will happen next.

No voice unheard, no right ignored - Launch of
Green Paper consultation
A consultation has been launched about the recent green
paper “No Voice Unheard, No Right Ignored”.
The National Forum of People with Learning Disabilities
and National Valuing Families Forum have made a film to
explain why it is so important.

Pathways To Independence Coffee Morning
The Pathways Coffee Morning is on every Thursday.
It is a chance to find out more about the services available
and to make new friends over coffee and cake.

Access Cinema
Access Cinema is a series of children’s films at the
Tyneside Cinema in Newcastle.
The films are for families with children who have learning
disabilities and/or additional needs who prefer a low
sensory environment.

Fulfilling lives
This is a market stall information event. There will be
