Key Responsibilities
Program and Institutional Accountability
• Direct the development of new programs and centers and secure their approval by the
university’s Board of Trustees, the Illinois Board of Higher Education (IBHE), and if
necessary, the Higher Learning Commission (HLC)
• Direct the program review process mandated by the IBHE
• Serve as EIU’s Accreditation Liaison Officer to the HLC
• Determine the impact of new policies from the HLC and the federal government and guide
departments through necessary revisions
• Oversee all curriculum-related systems and publications (Academic Handbook, Acalog,
Banner SIS curriculum forms, the Degree Audit Reporting System, Illinois Articulation
Initiative, Schedule Planner)
• Ensure that curriculum, policies, and procedures are clear and accessible to faculty and
students
Enrollment Management
• Oversee the development and implementation of key strategies designed to increase the
enrollment, retention, and graduation of new freshman and transfer students
• Conduct research to support strategy development and decision-making
• Lead the campus-wide Enrollment Worx Committee (Admissions, Bursar, Financial Aid,
Honors, Housing, Information Technology, Institutional Research, Marketing, Minority
Affairs, New Student Programs, Registrar, Retention, and the Web master)
• Direct the development and implementation of a long-term strategic enrollment management
plan
• Regularly update the campus community on enrollment management initiatives and progress
