What is New in this Release?
NexentaConnect for VMware Virtual SAN 1.0.2
NexentaConnect for VMware Virtual SAN 1.0.2 is a maintenance release that includes a few fixes
that help customers avoid known issues. Nexenta recommends that all customers who use
NexentaConnect for VMware Virtual SAN 1.0, 1.0.1, and 1.0.1 Fix Pack 1 upgrade their versions of
software to 1.0.2. It is always a good practice to upgrade to the latest fix pack or maintenance
release.
NexentaConnect for VMware Virtual SAN 1.0.2 includes the following improvements:
•
Support for VMware vSphere 6.0
NexentaConnect for VMware Virtual SAN is now fully compatible with VMware vSphere 6.0.
•
Optimized SMB performance
All known issues with SMB performance from previous releases have been resolved which resulted in
significantly better performance on operations in SMB folders.
NexentaConnect for VMware Virtual SAN Components
NexentaConnect for VMware Virtual SAN comprises of the following components:
• NexentaConnect for VMware vSphere Web Client plugin
Provides user interface that enables you to manage Nexenta IO Engine folders from VMware vSphere Web
Client.
•
NexentaConnect Manager
Processes all operations between VMware Virtual SAN and NexentaConnect for VMware Virtual SAN
plugin.
•
Nexenta IO Engine
Provides file services, such as NFS and SMB, as well as snapshots creation capability and Auto-Snap
service.

Browser Compatibility
NexentaConnect for VMware Virtual SAN is built-in the VMware vCenter Web Client. Therefore, you
must use browsers supported by VMware vCenter Web Client which currently supports the
following:
•
Mozilla FirefoxTM 24 or later.
•
Google ChromeTM 30 or later.
Upgrading
You can upgrade NexentaConnect for VMware vSphere Web Client plugin and NexentaConnect Manager by
running a new version of installer. Upgrading procedure is identical to the installation procedure of the
NexentaConnect for VMware vSphere Web Client plugin.
This section describes how to upgrade both Windows-based VMware vCenter and VMware vCenter Server
Linux Virtual Appliance (VCSA) versions of the product.
Before upgrading, verify that NexentaConnect for VMware Virtual SAN is not
running any tasks.
Note:
If NexentaConnect for VMware Virtual SAN is running tasks, wait until the tasks are
completed and then upgrade the software.
To upgrade NexentaConnect for VMware Virtual SAN:

Download the new version of NexentaConnect for VMware vSphere Web Client plugin installer
at nexenta.com.

If you use Windows-based VMware vCenter version, copy the installer to your desktop and
complete the tasks described in the Installing NexentaConnect for VMware Virtual SAN Web
Client plugin on VMware vCenter in the NexentaConnect for VMware Virtual SAN User Guide.

If you use VMware vCenter Server Linux Virtual Appliance version, copy the installer to VCSA and
complete the tasks described in the Installing NexentaConnect for VMware Virtual SAN Web Client
plugin on VCSA in the NexentaConnect for VMware Virtual SAN User Guide.
Known Issues
This section describes known issues in the NexentaConnect for VMware Virtual SAN 1.0.2.
Installer fails on Windows 2012
Description: NCC-26
The NexentaConnect for VMware Virtual SAN installer may fail if you execute it from Microsoft
Windows 2012.
Workaround:
The NexentaConnect for VMware Virtual SAN requires NET 3.5 installed on your system. Microsoft
Windows 2012 has NET 4.5 pre-installed. Therefore, you must install NET 3.5 to resolve the issue.
