Overview
In April, another round of the Team Up for Weight Loss (TUWL) program will begin. Join forces with your fellow Inova
co-workers and start making healthy lifestyle changes! With the support from the Inova HealthSource team, you and
your teammates can look forward to weekly tips and resources in your inbox or online – from ideas for physical activities
to tasty healthy food choices. The journey to weight loss has never been more fun! And who knows, you or your team
might win a great prize for doing something good for yourself.
In this 10-week challenge, you’ll weigh in and weigh out with Inova HealthSource staff and you will track your progress
online. You can participate to lose weight OR be a team encourager and get up to 200 WellAware points!

Program Rules
Team Composition
Each team must consist of 2 to 5 employees whose weight loss will be used in the award calculation
One additional employee may participate on the team as an Inova Encourager, as defined below
Inova Encourager
The Inova Encourager’s weight will not be included in the weight loss challenge
The Encourager does not have to attend any weigh days (but it is encouraged!)
The Encourager is eligible for all Inova Team Up awards
The Encourage role is ideal for individuals that are medically unable to participate in a weight loss challenge but
want to participate in the WellAware program.
Weigh-in / Weigh-out Instructions
Weigh-in (April 17-21, 2015)
o
All team members must weigh in once
o
Each member may weigh-in at the time and location that is best for him/her
o
There will be 10 days to weigh-in, with sessions at various locations
o
The team does not need to weigh-in at the same location, time or date but all team members must
weigh in.
o
You will receive emails or posts regularly for challenge updates
o
Weigh-in dates will be held on weekdays starting April 7, 2015
Weigh-out (June 16-30, 2015)
o
Each participant has 10 weeks from the date of weigh-in to schedule a date for the weigh-out. If you
weigh-in the first week of weigh-ins, you must complete your weigh-out the first week of weigh-outs. For
example. If you weigh-in anytime from April 7-13 you must weigh-out between June 16 and 22
o
If a team member does not make their designated weigh-out day, Inova Team Up will use his or her
weigh-in weight plus five pounds. For example, if a team member weighs-in at 200 lbs and misses
the weigh-out date, his/her weigh-out weight will be recorded as 205 lbs
o
Weigh-out dates will be held during weekdays starting June 16, 2015
Disclaimer – If it is medically inadvisable or unreasonably difficult due to a medical condition for you to achieve or
attempt to achieve any of the standards for the reward under this program, call us at 1-877-466-8201 and press 3 and
we will work with you to develop another way to qualify for the reward. It’s always important to check with your doctor
before you engage in a new fitness activity. The WellAware Program offers a variety of options.

Weigh Dates
There are plenty of locations to meet your weigh-in requirement. No appointments necessary. Find a location that’s most
convenient for you.
You must weigh-in and weigh-out to participate to receive credit for WellAware points. If you don’t weigh-out, 5 lbs. will be
added to your final weight.

1. What’s new for the 2015 Team Up for Weight Loss challenge program?
This year’s program has a new platform making it easier to use. You can create your own profile, add coworkers to join your team and send messages to one another
No more submission forms needed for participating in Team Up! WellAware points will be automatically
updated so there’s less work on your end! After you complete the program, your points will be updated on

InovaWellAware.com by the 10 of the following month
Program completion requires weight loss to earn points. A team gets 100 points if the team weight is 1%1.9% of total body weight. A team gets 200 points if the team weight is 2% or more of total body weight.
The percentage of body weight loss for each team will be calculated as follows: (sum of all team
members’ weigh-in weights minus the sum of all team members’ weigh-out weights) divided by (sum of all
team members’ weigh-in weights) multiplied by 100. Total team percentage weight loss will be recorded
to the second decimal place
The program is a 10 week challenge.
2. Can team members work at different site locations?
Yes, team members may have different work locations. The new website enables you to virtually keep in touch
and motivate each other throughout the challenge.
3. How Do I create a team and add members?
a. To Create a Team
i. Visit the Dashboard
ii. Select “View All Team” in Teams sections
iii. Click “Create” (Right-hand side of Teams bar)
b. To Add Employees to a Team
i. Select Team
ii. Click “Invite Friends”
1. If you invite friends that have not already signed up, they must register at Team Up Registration
before they join your team.

Will you be offering any exercise classes?
Please consider signing up for any Inova HealthSource class. As an Inova employee, you receive a 75%
discount! www.healthsource.org/fitnessandwellbeing
You can also schedule a small group training class at your work location through Inova HealthSource.
You have to secure a room with the time, dates and participants and Inova HealthSource will provide the
instructor. All participants must pay for the class but will receive a 75% discount off the regular fee.

I signed up for Inova’s Personal Coaching Programs (e.g. Personal Weigh Coach or Personal Food & Fit
Coach). Can I participate in this program too?
Yes, your coach will be able to help you make adjustments to your current goals. We believe in making gradual
lifestyle changes, and will definitely support you during Team Up!
6. Can I sign up as an individual participant?
No, you must sign up on a team of 2-5 people. This is a team-based program, and it is important for you to be on
a team with people you know. That way, you can support and hold one another accountable over the challenge.

What if I have a medical condition that will make it unreasonably difficult to participate in the program?
You can belong to a team as an Encourager to support your team’s progress. The Encourager’s weight will not
be included in the weight loss challenge. Encouragers can only be part of teams of at least 2 people participating
in the weight loss portion. There can only be one Encourager per team.
8. Do we get prizes for completing the program?
Yes, prizes will be awarded to the team with the greatest percentage of overall weight loss. Keep checking
www.inovateamup.org for additional details! Winners will be announced within 2 weeks of the challenge
completion. Winners will receive an email with information on how to choose their awards. Please allow 3-6
weeks to receive your prizes once the announcement is made.
