The Results Are In: Physician
Communication Survey
By Damian P. “Pat” Alagia, MD
Chief Physician Executive
Thank you to everyone who participated
in the KentuckyOne Health Physician
Communication Survey in January and
February. A total of 173 people completed
the SurveyMonkey survey, including 123 physicians, 22
advanced practice clinicians and 28 non-clinical staff. Results
revealed we’re on the right track in some areas, and in need of
improvement in others. I want to share what we learned and
what we plan to do as a result. Read more…
Provider Engagement Update
Provider Engagement has earned plenty of attention and energy
this year. It’s a broad complex concept. We see it in the strength
of our open, two-way communication, how well providers are kept
informed and how committed to and satisfied they are with their
experience of working at KentuckyOne Health. And here’s how we
can measure it. Read more…

Facilities Launch My
OneCare Patient Portal
On March 18, Louisville-based
facilities launched the My OneCare patient
portal. My OneCare offers patients personalized
and secure online access to view a summary of
their recent hospital or medical center visit. Visit
information includes a summary of the condition
that prompted the visit, along with any
medications, allergies, adverse reactions or
alerts.
In the future, additional My OneCare patient
portal features will include a way to schedule
appointments, request prescription refills and
perform other functions. Read more…
Transitioning to ICD-10
Documentation Tips
ICD-10 will change the way patient care is
documented. Providers will need to include
more specific information to tell a complete
story.
For example, for a patient with back pain, in
ICD-10 the provider will need to:
 Specify the site (e.g. low back, thoracic,
cervical, etc.)
 State the laterality when applicable
 Identify the underlying cause of the pain
 Differentiate between panniculitis and
radiculopathy
 Detail when lumbago is accompanied
by sciatica
