This seminar is designed to familiarize the practicing neonatologist and pediatrician to understand and manage infectious diseases of the newborn and infant. It will also provide an insight into the development of the immune system. In particular, lecturers will focus on modern aspects of perinatal and neonatal inflammation and infection, on issues of bacterial and viral infections as well as on practical topics like microbiological diagnostics, the febrile child or use of antibiotics.
