Directions from King Shaka International Airport via Nyalazi Gate
(3.5 hours from airport to the lodge – allow time to stop for animals in park)
Follow the exit signs out of the airport and head north on the N2 Toll Road in the direction of
Emhloti/KwaDakuza (formerly Stanger) towards Empangeni/Eshowe/Richards Bay. Please ensure
you have at least R200 in cash or a credit/debit card (No Diners/Amex) for toll fees.
After 184km take exit 375 toward Mtubatuba/St Lucia/Nongoma
Turn left onto R618 and travel for 24km
Turn left at sign HLUHLUWE-iMOLOZI PARK
Please check in at the Park Office and present them with your Reservation Number.
Please keep any paper work that they hand you as you will require this on exiting the park.
Please drive with care in the park as not only are there wild animals but the road is in poor condition
with several potholes which are being repaired

There are 2 routes through the park – this is the preferred route which is slightly longer
Preferred Route through the park (31 kms)
At the T junction turn right at the sign which shows RHINO RIDGE 31 kms
Continue past signs 1 (14.8kms) ,2 (0.9kms) and 3 (4.1kms) – continue to JUNCTION 7 (1 km)
Turn left at JUNCTION 7 (this is a dirt road)
Continue on this road for (4.4kms) past junction 6 where you will pass the road to Thiyeni hide.
Shortly after this junction you will see a sign RHINO RIDGE
Turn right and follow the signs up to the lodge
On arrival at the lodge please drive down the cobbled driveway and park at the entrance
Alternative Route through the park (22kms)
At the T junction turn right at the sign which shows RHINO RIDGE 31kms
Drive 14.8 kms to JUNCTION 1
At JUNCTION 1 turn left at sign showing RHINO RIDGE (continue for 3.2kms)
At next JUNCTION turn right at sign showing RHINO RIDGE (continue for 3.6kms)
At next JUNCTION 4 the road forks – keep left
Continue for 2.8 kms to JUNCTION 5
At JUNCTION 5 turn left at sign showing RHINO RIDGE
Go up the hill and after about 400 metres you will see a sign to the left RHINO RIDGE
Turn left at this sign and follow the signs RHINO RIDGE to the lodge

Get onto the N2 from Bullion Boulevard and R619 (12.6km)
Follow N2 to R618

Head east on Garrick Avenue toward Pelikaan Street
Turn left at the 1st cross street onto Pelikaan Street
Turn left onto Beach Road
Turn left onto McKenzie Street
At the roundabout take the 2nd exit onto R618 continue for 25 kms
Turn right to stay on R618
There are 2 routes through the park – this is the preferred route which is slightly longer

Head west toward R22 (34metres)
Exit the roundabout onto R22 (350 metres)
At the next roundabout take the 2nd exit and stay on R22 (2.9kms)
Continue onto P453 (12.9kms)
Enter the HLUHLUWE IMFOLOZI PARK at MEMORIAL GATE (28.6kms to lodge)
Please check in at the Park Office and present them with your Reservation Number.

Head south from Manguzi/KwaNganase follow P522 to R22 (25.6km) heading for
HLUHLUWE
Follow R22 to P453 (129km)
Head northeast on P453 toward R22
Continue on R22
At the roundabout take the 1st exit and stay on R22 heading for HLUHLUWE
Go through the town of HLUHLUWE you will pass Protea Hotel on your right
Leave the town and continue straight past Pineapple Farm on the left
Continue onto P453 (12.9kms)
Enter the HLUHLUWE IMFOLOZI PARK at MEMORIAL GATE (28.6kms to lodge)
Please check in at the Park Office and present them with your Reservation Number.

From Coastal Cashews car park turn left and continue on gravel road to T junction
Turn left onto tar road R22 and continue in direction of HLUHLUWE (99kms)

Directions from Isibindi Zulu Lodge To Rhino Ridge Safari Lodge
Please follow these directions and do not rely on your GPS. These directions are based on the best
road conditions and not the shortest route. There are 2 options. Firstly to drive through the
Hluhluwe iMfolozi Park. This route is shorter in distance but a lot longer in time. Allow 5 hours for
this route.
OPTION 1: VIA Hluhluwe iMfolozi Park- Cengeni Gate

















Turn right at the exit from Isibindi Zulu Lodge in the direction of Rorke’s Drift.
Just after Rorke’s Drift approximately 2km turn right onto the D31 towards Isandlwana
Travel for 9 km’s until you reach a T Junction – turn right at T Junction
Pass Isandlwana and continue for 10 km’s until you get to a T Junction
Turn right onto the tar(R68) road and continue in direction of Babanango for 44 km’s
Get to a 4-way Stop in Babanango and turn right.
Continue on this road for 30kms and when you reach T Junction turn left to Melmoth on the
R 68.
Continue for 27km and at the T-junction turn left towards Ulundi on the R34.
Continue along the R34 for 22km then turn right towards Ulundi onto the R66.
Continue for 16km and as you enter Ulundi you will turn right towards Hluhluwe iMfolozi
Park. Look out for sign posts to Airport & Hluhluwe iMfolozi Park. You will pass airport on
your right and continue towards Cengeni Gate, after 30km take the road to your right and
after 4km you will arrive at Cengeni Gate, Hluhluwe iMfolozi Park.
Please quote your reservation number at the Park Office. Please retain your receipt for exit.
Please adhere to the Park rules and do not drive faster than 40km per hours.
From Cengeni Gate follow signs towards Mpila Camp, drive through Mpila Camp and
continue towards Hilltop Camp
At JUNCTION 7 turn left onto a gravel road
Travel along this road and pass JUNCTION 6 where you will pass the road to Thiyeni hide.
Shortly after this junction you will see a sign RHINO RIDGE
Turn right and follow the signs up to the lodge

OPTION 2: VIA Empangeni and Nyalazi Gate





















Turn right at the exit from Isibindi Zulu Lodge in the direction of Rorke’s Drift.
Just after Rorke’s Drift approximately 2 km’s turn right onto the D31 towards Isandlwana
Travel for 9 km’s until you reach a T Junction – turn right at T Junction
Pass Isandlwana and continue for 10 km’s until you get to a T Junction
Turn right onto the tar(R68) road and continue in direction of Babanango for 44 km’s
Get to a 4-way Stop in Babanango and turn right.
Continue on this road for 30kms and when you reach T Junction turn left to Melmoth on
the R 68.
Continue for 27km and at the T-junction turn right towards Melmoth on the R34.
Continue along the R34 passing through the town of Melmoth.
Continue past Melmoth for 30km then take a Left turn towards Empangeni.
Continue through Empangeni and at the 7th Robot turn Left towards Mthubthuba.
Drive for 5 km and then join the N2, continue for another 50km and look out for the turn
to the left marked Hluhluwe iMfolozi Park and Hlabisa.
Continue along this road (R618) for 28 km and then turn left into the Nyalazi Gate at
Hluhluwe iMfolozi Park
Please quote your reservation number at the Park Office. Please retain your receipt for
exit. Please adhere to the Park rules and do not drive faster than 40km per hours.
