SERMON NOTES PASTOR ADRIAN COLLINS
13
You were dead because of your sins and because your sinful nature
was not yet cut away. Then God made you alive with Christ, for he
14
forgave all our sins. He canceled the record of the charges against us
15
and took it away by nailing it to the cross. In this way, he disarmed the
spiritual rulers and authorities. He shamed them publicly by his victory
over them on the cross. (Col 2:13-15)
Victory over the Power of Sin
10
When he died, he died once to break the power of sin. (Rom 6:10)
24
He personally carried our sins in his body on the cross so that we can
be dead to sin and live for what is right. By his wounds you are healed.
(1 Pet 2:24)

Jesus Declared His Victory on the Cross
We know that our old sinful selves were crucified with Christ so that
7
sin might lose its power in our lives. We are no longer slaves to sin. For
when we died with Christ we were set free from the power of sin. (Rom
6:6-7)
14
Because God’s children are human beings—made of flesh and blood—
the Son also became flesh and blood. For only as a human being could
he die, and only by dying could he break the power of the devil, who had
the power of death. (Heb 2:14)
By faith, Jesus'
Jesus' Victory is Our Victory
4
For every child of God defeats this evil world, and we achieve this
5
victory through our faith. And who can win this battle against the
world? Only those who believe that Jesus is the Son of God. (1 John 5:4)
28
Jesus knew that his mission was now finished, and to fulfill Scripture
29
he said, “I am thirsty.” A jar of sour wine was sitting there, so they
soaked a sponge in it, put it on a hyssop branch, and held it up to his
30
lips. When Jesus had tasted it, he said, “It is finished!” Then he bowed
his head and released his spirit. (John 19:28-30)
Victory over the Penalty of Sin
21
For God made Christ, who never sinned, to be the offering for our sin,
so that we could be made right with God through Christ. (2 Cor 5:21)

For sin is the sting that results in death, and the law gives sin its
57
power. But thank God! He gives us victory over sin and death through
our Lord Jesus Christ. (1 Cor 15:56-57)
