Featured Speaker: Gale A. Buchanan
A leader in the field of scientific agricultural research, Dr. Buchanan’s illustrious career has included a
term as the USDA’s chief scientist as Under Secretary for Research, Education and Economics. A
former dean and director emeritus at the College of Agricultural and Environmental Sciences at the
University of Georgia, he served for 20 years on the Auburn University faculty before taking the role
of associate director for the Georgia Agricultural Experiment Station and resident director of the
Coastal Plain Experiment Station. Dr. Buchanan is the author of Agricultural Research: Feeding
Billions, and co-author, Leadership in Agriculture: Case Studies for a New Generation.
