What is
a core fee?
If you are not able to
bring in your old car
battery when picking
up your new battery,
a ‘Core’ redemption
charge/fee will be added
to your purchase total
in addition to the price
of the new battery. This
is a state-mandated fee
that is refundable to you
upon return of a used
car battery. The goal is
to encourage the return
of unused/depleted
batteries for proper
recycling, helping to
protect the environment
from the hazardous
materials present in
all batteries entering
landfills.
To receive a refund for
this fee, you must retain
your receipt showing
the Core Fee paid.
Bring it and your old
battery within 30 days
to any Walmart store
location to have this fee
refunded.

You can bring any lead-acid battery into Walmart
and we will recycle it at no charge to you.
