Job Search Workshops: Not sure where to begin with your job search? Looking to improve your resume or interview skills? These
interactive workshops will teach you new ways to search for the right job, access the hidden job market, create a targeted resume
and cover letter, and present yourself effectively in an interview.
Second Career Information Session: An Ontario government program that helps you train for a new career. If you were laid off
any time after January 1, 2005 you may be eligible to apply for Second Career. This session will provide step-by-step information
about the eligibility and suitability criteria for Second Career and will discuss the financial support that may be available along with
direction for next steps in the process. June 2, 16
Apprenticeship Information Session: Apprenticeship is a hands-on training program for people who want to work in a skilled
trade, that can lead to a rewarding career in a high demand market. This session discusses some of the skilled trades in Ontario and
the process for becoming an Apprentice. June 3
Experience Counts! Marketing Skills for the Mature Worker: Do you think employers are making hiring decisions based on age?
Unfortunately there are some biases and misconceptions that do exist. We can’t change our age, but we can change assumptions
that are made about us “over 40 job searchers”. It just requires some preparation. Join us for this informative workshop to gain some
strategic methods to help you triumph over negative age-related stereotypes! June 4
NEW Cash Flow & Budgeting for the Newly Unemployed with Steve Walsh CPA, CA: Beyond the anxiety and apprehension that
comes when there is no regular pay cheque, what comes next? A budget triage — what inventory do you need to take and
decisions you need to make about adjusting your family budget? And the long term — planning for the unforeseen. June 10
NEW Intermediate MS Word with Ruth Berry: Are you looking to learn about more features in Microsoft Word 2010? Participants
will learn advanced formatting, use Word 2010 drawing tools, create and manage tables, and work with column lay-outs. Preregister as spaces are limited! June 26
Career Exploration 1: Personality & Fit: Unclear of your career direction? Start by understanding yourself through Personality
Dimensions. June 15
Career Exploration 2: Personality, Values, & Work Environment: Learn about your perfect work environment including your key
work values, wants, must-haves, and work stressors. June 15
Career Exploration 3: Skills & Abilities: Here you’ll learn what skills and abilities you have, which ones you want to use, and where
you need to develop. June 17
Career Exploration 4: Exploring Work Interests: Using a variety of tools you’ll explore your personal career interests and by the
end of the workshop, you’ll have identified 2-4 possible career options to research and explore. June 17
Career Exploration 5: Labour Market Research: Learn tools, tips and research techniques that will help you choose the best
career option for you. June 19
Career Exploration 6: Managing Career Change: Using Who Moved My Cheese as a discussion point, you’ll have an opportunity
