This week we focused on :
The system of exchange with money using a flow chart. We will also be discussing our upcoming bake sale
and planning how we will spend the money we earned on our field trip.
English
In Literacy this week we focus on:
Introducing our second set of CVC words: on, it, an, and, pin, got, dog, sit. We’ve also continued with our new sight
words (look, up, for). We are using the letter sounds to make simple words and read them in print. have begun to
write them, say the sounds, identify words beginning with these sounds etc.
Activities we will be doing are:
Squiggle books, where we will use our imagination to transform a squiggle line into a story.
Word builder, we will be using letters in the block area to build CVC words.
CVC puzzles, we will complete a puzzle and read the word that is illustrated.
Math
In Numeracy this week we focus on
Solid shapes such as cylinder, cube, pyramid, and sphere.
Activities done in the classroom:
We will be creating a shape collage by identifying solid shapes in magazines and using them to form a collage.
The children will test their knowledge and memory in a game of concentration where they must identify and match
pairs of shapes.
We will describe and compare attributes of solid shapes in order to sort them.
Home activities
Literacy: Practice phonics and reading skills here
Numeracy: Children can roll, pinch, and manipulate playdough or clay to make two or more shapes.
UOI: Bake something nice to be sold at our Bake Sale!
Important Information and Upcoming Events
Our KG1 Bake Sale will be on April 16th. Bake a nice treat with your child to be
sold.
Please pre-cut cakes!
