third annual kingswood family ceilidh nights
May 5th, 2015 KINGSWOOD FAMILY CEILIDH NIGHTS Come and join us in our celebration of Nova Scotia culture as we host our seventh annual Ceilidh on the evening of Wednesday, May 13th from 6:00 until 8:00. This event will be the culmination of our study of Nova Scotia Musical Culture and will feature a live band playing the jigs and reels and a professional set caller to keep your toes pointing in the right direction. The children have enjoyed learning some traditional set dances and would now like the opportunity to teach you. A Ceilidh is a unique all ages family dance. The idea is to dance with your children and friends from the community. Have no fear if you have never danced set dances. The caller will walk you through the dance first before the band kicks in. Set dances do require a lot of room, so unfortunately there is a limited number of people we can accommodate and thus the two nights. There will be a $10.00 per family charge for the dance to help pay the professional musicians Mr. Jackson has to hire. Any additional profits will go to support music program enhancements for students. A “family pass” can include any older or younger siblings who may not attend our school and perhaps a grandparent or two as well. Please note all children must be accompanied by an adult. What we need for our planning is to know how many family members are going to come. Response form: Please return no later than Monday, May 11th. The ticket money ($10.00) should be sent in with this response. Please provide your email address below so we can email you to confirm receipt of your order and payment. Please list all children attending Kingswood Elementary. Student’s Name Grade Teacher Number of family members attending including above student(s)_____________ Email address for confirmation ______________________ Please pay by cheque if possible made payable to: Kingswood Elementary School. Rather than sending tickets home, we ask that families check in at the door on Ceilidh night, where your family name and number attending will be listed and will be checked off when you arrive. Any remaining payments owing can also be made at that time. Please As always, if the cost is prohibitive to any family’s attendance, please contact our principal, Camelitta MacIntyre, in confidence and the cost will be waived.
