Newsletter- Week 1 Term 2 2015
School Newsletter Term 2 Week 1 2015 Dear Parents/Caregivers Welcome to the first newsletter for Term 2. I hope you and your family managed to get some good time together over the holiday break. Now it’s time to settle in for an eleven week term, with autumn upon us and winter just waiting to arrive!! However, we have lots of things happening at school too, hopefully it will keep your child happy and engaged. the trumpet for the Last Post and the Reveille. We also had 30 crosses which represent the 30 soldiers from this area that died in World War 1. They were planted in front of our flag pole. With the current recognition and media coverage, we hope that our commemoration will help children to think and talk about such a significant part of our history. Thank you to all who took part in our ParentTeacher-Child Interviews this week. We hope that you found them informative and that you have made some good goals for the remainder of this year. Working together is the best way to encourage all of our children to do the best they can. Our next PTA meeting is scheduled for Wednesday 29 April. I know the PTA would love to welcome new members. Also our next Board of Trustees meeting is scheduled for Thursday 14 May, at 5:15pm in the staffroom – all interested people are welcome to attend. This term we will be focusing on our major production. This show offers our children an opportunity to be involved in a range of different activities, from singing and dancing, to acting, to making props and sets and working with lighting and sound. The script is changing (hopefully in a good way!) regularly, and I know that staff are really looking forward to working with our children to put on a good show – I hope you will be able to come along and support us all later in the term. I hope that you are enjoying your association with our school and that your child is as well. It seems that there are three main things that work towards success at school: high expectations, shared knowledge and responsibility, and happy and engaged children. I believe we work really hard at Kirkwood to achieve these three goals. Working together makes for better results for us all. We look forward to working together for the rest of this year. Best wishes On Monday we celebrated ANZAC day. It was an opportunity to reflect on our history, and to acknowledge those who have served our country.
