Admissions Office. See gpadmissions.osu.eduu for details.

 Personal Statement | (Upload through the online application) This statement is a 1-3 page narrative that provides insight into
why you want to pursue a doctorate in City and Regional Planning from The Ohio State University and what you want to do
once you earn the degree. It is important to relate not only how your personal and/or educational experiences thus far have led
you to your decision to pursue this degree, but also details about the research direction you wish to pursue. A clear research
direction is critical to determine fit with the program and potential faculty advisors.
 Curriculum Vitae | (Upload through the online application) The curriculum vitae should include academic and relevant
professional history. Research projects, papers, and conference presentations are especially good to include if applicable.
 Example of research or written work | i.e. literature review, empirical study, term paper, or thesis. Design portfolios are not
appropriate; Upload through the online application
 Three Letters of Recommendation | Once you have submitted the online application, you will receive an email with
instructions to set up your recommenders. After you have set up your recommenders online, each individual will receive an
email request with a link to submit their letter online. Your letters of recommendation are important for the admissions
committee to assess preparedness for doctoral work. At least two letters should be written by faculty from undergraduate or
graduate study. Other letter writers could be from supervisors or similar professional contacts who have monitored your work.
Recommenders should be able to relate in some detail about your skills; it is more important that the reference know your work
than be a recognizable name. Personal associates (friends, family members, or peer work colleagues) are not appropriate
references for admissions consideration.
