The Uttarakhand Technical University, Dehradun was established on 27th January 2005 by Govt.
of Uttarakhand through the Uttarakhand Technical University Act 2005. The University is affiliating
various private and Govt. institutions along with its own campus departments for M. Tech and M. Pharma
courses. There are 5 Constituent and 118 affiliated colleges with 50,000 students in various courses.
The University is serving the technical education through its progress monitored each semester,
part time Ph.D programme especially designed for the teachers and scientists by giving them opportunity
to explore the untouched area of the research. The University in its own campus running M.Tech and M.
Pharma Programme in various disciplines. Apart from this University is having 4 Constituent Colleges
namely Seemant Institute of Technology, Pithoragarh, THDC-IHET New Tehri, Women Institute of
Technology, Dehradun and Institute of Technology, Gopeshwar, spreading Technical Education in the
remote underprivileged area of Uttarakhand hills.
The Uttarakhand Technical University campus is situated at NH-72 Suddhowala, Dehradun.
Dehradun is the State capital of Uttarakhand well connected through Rail, Road and Air transport.

Programmes of two years duration in the University campus.
University will award M.Tech/M. Pharm degree.
Reservation will be applicable as per Government of Uttrakhand latest notification.

ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA
(a) The applicant admitted in M.Tech programme must have at least:
 For General/OBC candidates 60% marks in B.Tech or equivalent
 For SC/ST candidates 55% marks in B.Tech or equivalent
 Candidates having 60% marks and valid qualified GATE score for
General/OBC candidates and 55% of marks and valid qualified GATE
score SC/ST candidates will be given preference in admission.
Candidates having valid and qualified GATE score are not require to
appear in University entrance examination. In counseling first seats will
be filled by the valid score GATE candidates and if interested
candidates with valid GATE score are not available then remaining
seats will be filled according to the merit of University Entrance
Examination.
(b) The applicant admitted in M. Pharm. programme must have at least:
 For General/OBC candidates 55% marks in B. Pharm. or equivalent from



PCI approved Institute.
For SC/ST candidates 50% marks in B. Pharm. or equivalent from PCI
approved Institute.
Latest State Pharmacist registration.
Candidates having 55% marks and valid qualified GPAT score for
General/OBC candidates and 50% of marks and valid qualified GPAT
score SC/ST candidates will be given preference in admission.
Candidates having valid and qualified GPAT score are not require to
appear in University entrance examination. In counseling first seats will
be filled by the valid score GPAT candidates and if interested
candidates with valid GPAT score are not available then remaining
seats will be filled according to the merit of University Entrance
Examination.
(c) Reservation shall be applicable as per State Government Norms.
(d) For admission to M. Tech candidate should be B.Tech degree from recognized
University under 2(f) of UGC act 1956 in the relevant field, for admission.
(d) The equivalency of any degree for admission to any programme will be decided by
University. The eligibility criteria given above are minimum. University may
prescribe any other requirements over and above these conditions.
(e) Candidate who is having valid GATE/GPAT score and do not apply in response to
this advertisement; will not be allowed to appear in the counseling.
4. SELECTION PROCEDURE





The admission to M.Tech /M.Pharma programme shall be based on the merit of valid score
secured by the GATE/GPAT candidate must have valid minimum GATE/GPAT score as per
eligibility criterion [3.(a)-(d)].
For seats available after counselling of valid GATE/GPAT score holders the admission will be
based on the merit of Entrance Examination conducted by UTU.
Separate merit list will be prepared for the GATE/GPAT candidates and University Entrance
exam attempted candidates before calling for the interview. Both the list will be published on the
university website (www.uktech.ac.in) on 29 June 2015.
Counseling will be held on 05th July, 2015, Venue etc will be intimated on the university website.

5. EXAMINATION DETAILS



Candidate will be required to appear in two hours duration entrance examination of the subject
concerned. The question papers will be in English only.
There will be single paper for M.Pharm candidate. The question paper will have 100 object type
questions.
The question paper for M.Tech candidate will consist of two section section-I will have 30
objective type questions from general Engineering Science and section-II will be having 70
questions from the subject in which candidates wants to take admission according to his/her
eligibility. Following 5 major branches will be there.
A- Civil Engineering
B- Computer science & Information Technology
C- Electrical Engineering
D- Electronics & Communication Engineering
E- Mechanical Engineering


The question prepared will be fully objective type. Each question will have 04 options.
More than one answer by candidates will be deemed as incorrect response. 05 Marks
shall be awarded for each correct answer.
In case two or more candidates secure equal marks, inter-se-merit of such candidates
shall be determined as follows:
o Firstly, by the number of incorrect answer given. A candidate giving lesser
number of incorrect answer will be placed at higher merit.
o Secondly by B Tech/B Pharma % merit will be decided.

SYLLABUS:
The Syllabus for entrance test will be same as of GATE/GPAT 2015.
RESERVATIONS
Vertical Reservation (Category):
Reservation will be accepted as per latest Uttarakhand Government norms.
Horizontal Reservation (Sub-category available in each category):
Reservation will be accepted as per latest Uttarakhand Government norms.
Subject to change as per latest instruction of Govt of Uttarakhand till the date of
counseling





Candidate can be given only one type of horizontal reservation.
Subsequent request for the change of category/sub-category filled in application form shall not be
entertained under any circumstances.
Category /sub-category must be supported by the relevant certificates failing which the candidate
shall be treated in general Category.
The advantage of horizontal reservation in armed force sub-category is available to
sons/daughters of defence personnel of Uttarakhand either retired (Superannuated) or
killed/disable in action and the dependents settled in Uttarakhand or the defence personnel posted
in Uttarakhand on the date of Entrance Examination.
Candidates Called for counselling will have to submit Medical fitness certificate from CMO.
10. CENTER OF EXAMINATION
The Entrance Exam-2015 for M.Tech/M.Pharm will be held at Dehradun. Venue will be intimated on
website http://www.uktech.ac.in/.
11. COUNSELLING:
11.1. Counseling will be done at Dehradun. The details of counseling alongwith the list of candidates eligible for
counseling will be provided on website www.uktech.ac.in
11.2 The candidates called for counseling will be required to come with original certificates of qualification
examination, mark sheet, weight age certificate, domicile and category/reservation certificates etc. With
one attested copy of each. In case the candidates do not submit the proper category/reservation certificate
in the prescribed Performa at the time of counseling. The advantage of reserved category shall not be
provided and they will be treated in general category. If the candidate has passed qualifying examination
from outside Uttarakhand, he/she has to bring the domicile certificate of his/her parents (Father OR
Mother) only at the time of counseling. The candidate must note that his/her domicile certificate is not
acceptable, in place of his parent’s certificate and no request shall be entertained for relaxation.
11.3. Verification of original documents would be done at the time of counseling at the counseling centre. The
purpose would be to verify different records regarding qualifying examination, eligibility, and category/
reservation certificate and weight age etc. of the candidate. The candidates will not be considered for
admission if he does not show the original documents at counseling centre. However the originals will be
returned to candidates.
11.4. The initial fee of Rs.10,000/- will be deposited at counseling centre in the form of Bank draft. This fee is
adjustable against total fee payable at institution if candidate take admission at allotted institute/university.
11.5. In addition to initial fee the candidate called for counseling is to deposit a separate bank draft of
Rs.1000/- as counseling fee .The counseling fee is non-refundable.
11.6. After first counseling, the second counseling will be conducted for filling the vacant seats.
11.7. All the Bank Drafts must be prepared separately and drawn in favour of “Finance
Controller”,Uttarakhand Technical University, Dehradun.
The latest instruction of AICTE, Govt. And UTU up to the date (s) of counselling shall be
applicable.

13. OTHER INFORMATIONS
1. Incomplete application will be rejected.
2. No TA/DA will be admissible to be the candidates called for the entrance examination/counselling.
3. The decision of University for the selection of candidates shall be final.
4. Self-attested photocopies of certificate in support of education, GATE/GPAT score and category &
sub-category certificate (s) etc. should be sent along with the application.
5. Application in the prescribed format with supporting documents must reach the Director Women
