LEUSD Summer Family Trip to Legoland!!!!!
We are excited about presenting this 21st Century College and Career
Readiness opportunity. This Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and
Mathematics (STEAM) educational opportunity is a MUST. LEUSD's MTSS
Parent Network invites our K-8th grade families to meet us at Legoland
California this summer! This fun-filled day will consist of a mandatory 45
minute robotics class and the rest of the day is yours to enjoy the park with your family. Please
consider signing up for the “Let’s pick up STEAM” Science Camp at Earl Warren Elementary School on
July 13-16, 2015. (ONLY Grades K-5 for Camp)
When: Thursday, June 11, 2015
Where: Legoland California
One LEGOLAND Drive
Carlsbad, CA 92008
Time: 9:30 AM (meet at main entrance)
Cost: Adults $25/each, Students $12/each ( including children under age of 5). This is a family event. District
chaperones are not provided. There are no refunds for any reason. Any overage of money collected will be
considered a donation. Thank you for your understanding.
Registration Process: School Pay only. Sorry, no cash, check, etc. accepted. DEADLINE TO PAY IS: MAY 22,
2015. No exceptions. Space is limited. Please go to www.schoolpay.com "LEUSD LEGOLAND 2015"
account. You must include the following information when making payment:
1) Number of Adults ( adults can not outnumber students).
2) Number of Students - including siblings under the age of 5
3) Grade level for each child
4) Class preference ( class options below)
5) School and Teacher of each child
6) Phone Number and e-mail address
Food: Each family is responsible for their own food. Legoland does not allow outside food to be brought into the
park.
Parking: $15 per car. However, a limited number of parking passes will be distributed on a first come first serve
basis. You must complete the full registration process to be eligible for a parking pass. Transportation is not
provided by the district.
Robotics Classes:
(Please note: We need a minimum of 15 students per class or class will be cancelled. If class is cancelled, you will
still be able to enjoy the park for the day. Class times will be assigned when you receive your information packet/
tickets which will be prior to event date. Parents are not allowed to attend class with student. We reserve the right
to combine classes to meet minimum requirements).

Tall Towers - Grades TK-1 at 10:00 A.M.
● Compare shell and frame structures. Are they stable or wobbly?
 Build a tower. Test it on our earthquake table—how stable is your structure?
Simple Machines I - Grades 1-3 at 11:00 A.M.
● Build a mini-theme park ride.
● Learn to use gears to make it go faster, slower, change direction. Add LEGO riders!
Physical Forces: Get Moving! - Grades 2-4 at 10:00 A.M.
● Build and race a LEGO vehicle—predict the winner!
● Observe friction, wind resistance and gravity—re-build to make a faster car.
Energy Lab - Grades 3-6 at 11:00 A.M.
● Build a solar-powered LEGO car or mini-ride. Store and transfer energy.
● Ride TECHNIC® Coaster! Teacher Guide identifies potential and kinetic energy.
Adventure Bots - Grades 3-6 at 11:00 A.M.
● LEGO® MINDSTORMS® NXT robots pass the guard and discover treasure.
● Use software, sensors, and motors.
● Dragon Coaster animation revealed!
Simple Machines II - Grades 4-8 at 11:00 A.M.
● Applied learning with Kid Power Tower life-size pulleys.
● Build an animated, tail-wagging Dog-Bot.
● Use gears, pulleys, and motors
Ticket Pick Up/info Packet:
Paid participants will be invited to attend a town hall meeting once event details are finalized. Participants can pick up
information packet that will include tickets/ parking pass/ etc. at this meeting. You will also be able to get any outstanding questions answered at this time. “Unclaimed packets will be available for pick-up at your school site on
June 10, 2015. Lost/unclaimed tickets will not be refunded.”
