Dear Fellow Conservationists:
On behalf of the Maryland Association of Soil Conservation Districts, I would like to invite you to attend
the 2015 MASCD Annual Meeting to be held at the Holiday Inn in Solomons, MD, July 27-29. A
tentative agenda for the meeting is enclosed. Based on feedback from the 2014 event, the meeting will
start on Monday evening with the Board of Director’s meeting and all other events will take place on
Tuesday and Wednesday. The Opening Session starts at 8:30 am on Tuesday morning and the event
concludes on Wednesday afternoon.
The MASCD Education Endowment auction will be held at the Awards Banquet on Tuesday evening.
Please give thought to some interesting and desirable donations to help raise funds for our Environmental
Education programs. Cash donations welcome! Wednesday morning will start with a training session
organized by SSCC followed by the General Session and lunch. The final Board meeting and a special
joint meeting of district staff will be held in the afternoon.
The theme for the meeting is “Celebrating Districts – Highlighting Stewardship – Achieving Goals!” as
we evaluate three-quarter of a century working with conservation stewards to protect Maryland natural
resources and finding workable solutions to meet local, state and federal clean water goals.
The total cost per room, standard single or double is $129.00, plus the 5% Calvert County Lodging tax.
Please register directly with the hotel by June 30, 2015 using the enclosed registration listing sheet.
Although our deadline is June 30th, please book early. To avoid charges for underutilized rooms, a
minimal number of rooms have been booked. To be exempt from state sales tax, you will need to enclose
a copy of your sales exempt certificate, pay with a business or district check, and include a list of
individuals who are to be exempted. Check in time is 3:00 p.m.; checkout time is 11:00 a.m. A one-night
deposit or a credit card number is required to guarantee reservations. The hotel will accept cancellations
up until twenty-four hours prior to arrival.
Meal reservations should be sent directly to the Anne Arundel Soil Conservation District on the enclosed
form to arrive no later than July 17, 2015. No refunds will be made after this date. If you have any

3. A current copy of your district’s Maryland State tax exemption form must be included

Conservation Districts (Code SCO) to receive the group rate. You may then fax this
form and your Maryland State tax exemption to 410-326-3748 (fax).
