Meet the 2015 Judges
Julia Austin
Julia works with technology entrepreneurs to help them start and scale great
companies. She is a board member and advisor to several startups, and a leadership
coach with a focus on R&D process, staffing and functional operations. Prior to
Austinfish, Julia’s career included roles as the VP of Innovation and Cambridge Site
Director for VMware, Inc., and VP of Engineering at Akamai Technologies.
Pamela Aldsworth
Pamela is a managing director with SVB Capital. In this role, she oversees strategic
relationships with venture capital firms by leveraging the diverse financial services of
SVB Financial Group (SVB) platform. She is primarily focused on managing relationships
with a key subset of venture capital firms that have historically and consistently
achieved top decile returns. Pamela builds strategic roadmaps with firms in her
coverage universe to ensure that SVB is providing the best possible insights, guidance,
products and services to the partnership and their portfolio companies.
Tracy Rosenthal-Newsom
Tracy is a recognized product development innovator and leader committed to
developing people and products that inspire transformative change. An award-winning
Game Production / Publishing Executive of genre-defining game franchises: ROCK
BAND, DANCE CENTRAL and GUITAR HERO, she was most recently General Manager,
Product Development at Harmonix. Currently she is working as a product development
consultant in the areas of scientific research, technology, health, neuro-wellness, and
education, building innovative products and services that will improve people’s lives.
Kara Shurmantine
Kara is the Director of Global Partnerships Manager at MassChallenge, the world's
largest startup accelerator. Kara is responsible for developing strategic partnerships
with organizations around the world to help MassChallenge achieve its mission of
catalyzing a global startup renaissance. Her responsibilities include managing the
MassChallenge international Bridge program and developing strategies for
MassChallenge expansion abroad.
Aimee Sprung
Aimee Sprung is the Civic Engagement Program Manager on the Technology & Civic
Engagement (TCE) Team at Microsoft’s New England Research & Development Center
(NERD). The TCE team brings Microsoft’s best assets to bear to help civic leaders - and
the communities they serve – use technology and cutting edge ideas to solve their
biggest challenges, including computer science and STEM education. As part of this
team, Aimee is responsible for STEM education outreach and local community
engagement.
