CONGRATULATIONS to our students, faculty and staff at Mater Dei, St. Wendel
and St. Philip for being named four star schools by the Indiana Department of Education! This is the third year in a row that Mater Dei has been recognized for outstanding achievement by
the State of Indiana.
Congratulations also go out to the Mater Dei
Supermileage Team. They placed first in two
categories and also earned a third place at the
Shell Eco-Marathon competition in Detroit.
This year’s team carried on the winning tradition in style!
May Day is always a special day as we recognize our senior class, but this year we
also thanked all the donors to the Full of Grace Campaign. You, the future students
at Mater Dei, will benefit from the generosity of these donors in the new facilities
and projects. Honors Day, Mass with the Bishop, Dedication of the Prayer Garden
and of course the annual May Day games all took place Friday, May 1.
The graduating class of 2015 was offered over $9 million in scholarships. They will
be attending 25 colleges in seven states. Friday, May 15 is Baccalaureate. Commencement is Sunday, May 17. You will be saying goodbye to the 8th graders at
your school soon. We are looking forward to seeing many of them here at Mater
Dei this fall. 152 students have applied for admission. We know they will bring
enthusiasm and talent to our school. Eighth graders, please see the important
dates under upcoming events.
The Mater Dei Dance Marathon
for Riley Children’s Hospital was
a tremendous success! The total
this year was $33,554.00!! We
know the students that attended
had a great time for a great cause.
Our Wildcat athletic teams are gearing up for conference and sectional play. The
boys golf team won the Warrick Invitational and will compete in the city meet on
May 9 followed by SIAC on June 1 and sectionals June 5. The track teams have
the city meet May 8, SIAC May 14 and girls sectional May 19 followed by the
boys on May 21. Girls tennis sectional is May 20. The Lady Cats softball team
will begin sectional play on May 26 while the Wildcat baseball team sectional is
May 27. The baseball team is hoping to make a repeat trip to the State Finals. You
have been great fans throughout the year. Keep backing the Cats!

during the summer. We have something for everyone: art, theatre and sports. See
