Extinct or Endangered Animal Project ❖Option 1: A five paragraph essay with a cover page ❖Option 2: A poster display (at least size 12 X 18) ❖Option 3: A PowerPoint presentation (minimum of 9 slides total) *** BE CAREFUL ABOUT PLAGIARISM! ALWAYS WRITE YOUR PROJECTS IN YOUR OWN WORDS UNLESS USING QUOTES OR STATING SPECIFICALLY WHERE IT CAME FROM! *** Information that must be included for ALL projects: ❑ A title for your project (goes on the cover page if you choose essay) ❑ The scientific name (genus and species) and common name of your animal (goes on the cover page if you choose essay) ❑ Pictures of your animal (goes on the cover page if you choose essay) ❑ Information about what it looked like (the size, color, fur, feathers, etc.) ❑ Invertebrate or Vertebrate characteristics of your species (Refer to Ch. 14 for ideas on what to research) ❑ What Era and Period your species was from (including today if applicable) ❑ Where the species could be physically found on the planet ❑ The type of environment that your species lives in (arctic, rainforest, ocean, jungle, etc.) ❑ How is your animal ADAPTED to live where it did? (Ex: blend in with the snow, have sharp claws for hunting, etc.) ❑ The food your animal ate or does eat ❑ Whether your animal gets eaten by another animal of some kind ❑ Names and pictures of ancestor animals that your animal evolved from ❑ Names and pictures of animals alive today that are related to your animal ❑ What caused the animal to become extinct or endangered o IF EXTINCT: How could our world be different if the species was still around? o If ENDANGERED: How could we save it? How many are left? ❑ Why did you pick this animal? Include any other interesting facts you would like to share that don’t fit into the categories above. ❑ “Works Cited” meaning the websites and/or books that your information came from o Must have at least three sources of information These are just some examples, there are MANY more.
