Extended script of the speech for the transport logistic video preview Introduction My name is Stefan Rummel. I have been Messe München's CEO since the first of January, where I am responsible for transport logistic. I am very pleased to be responsible for the world's leading trade fair for this exciting industry. The world's leading trade fair transport logistic and current status We are at the East entrance of the Munich exhibition site. The East entrance is traditionally the main entrance for transport logistic, taking place for the 15th time this year. Starting on 5 May, the transport and logistics industry will again be meeting here from Tuesday to Friday. transport logistic is the industry's biggest event worldwide, with nine trade fair halls and an outdoor area covering a total of 110,000 square meters. Taking place at the same time is Air Cargo Europe, which is part of transport logistic, and the air cargo industry's biggest event. The trade fair brings together the whole spectrum of services and products from the freight transport and logistics sectors on land, water, in the air and on rail. With around one and a half months to go before the event begins we are well on schedule with our preparations. The hall planning has been completed and the exhibitors have been allocated their places. This year they include companies such as Dachser, DSV, Panalpina, Schenker, Kühne und Nagel, the ports of Bremen, Hamburg, Amsterdam and Rotterdam, companies such as Daimler, MAN, Krone, Bombardier and Alstom, Transporeon and DAKO. This year we are anticipating numerous national and international joint stands. All the exhibitors are to be found in our exhibitor database, which can be found on our website along with visitor registration. Exhibitor database: www.transportlogistic.de/en/exhibitordatabase Visitor registration: www.transportlogistic.de/en/Visitors/Tickets Once again this year we are pleased to welcome more than 2,000 exhibitors and more than 52,000 visitors here in Munich. transport logistic is becoming increasingly international. This year we are expecting more than 45 per cent of exhibitors and more than 40 per cent of visitors from abroad. We aim to continue increasing these percentages. Supporting program Courtesy of our numerous expert partners, the supporting program is one of transport logistic's highlights. More than 300 speakers from industry, the transport sector and politics will be discussing topical industry trends and challenges at more than 45 events. This year these topics include: the challenges in food logistics, logistics in inner cities, Industry 4.0 and the use of 3-D printers in the logistics industry. You will find an overview of the topics on offer, including speakers, on our website at www.transportlogistic.de/en/Program. 1 Particular focus points and highlights We are currently in the Messe München outside area. Everything here revolves around rail freight transport. The transport logistic rail track area is already fully booked. This is where exhibitors showcase their locomotives and wagons, for example. Moreover: transport logistic is the only Messe München trade fair using the rail track area as an exhibition space. And the supporting program also includes interesting events on rail freight transport, for example on “Rail freight traffic – market transparency and technical challenges” and “Modal shift of transport just for the environment? Or can other arguments persuade shippers and forwarders to shift to the rail network?” Digital technologies and e-commerce are currently transforming numerous industries. Including the transport and logistics industry. The use of intelligent information and communication systems is now indispensable in logistics. Which is why one of the focus areas this year at transport logistic is digitization. Awaiting the visitor is a plethora of gripping discussions and forums on the use, limitations and opportunities of digital technologies in the transport and logistics industry. A further transport logistic highlight are our two conferences. mariLOG, the international conference for maritime logistics, is dedicated to the topic “In the Sulfur Trap - The consequences of the stricter sulfur emissions regulations in the North Sea and the Baltic Sea on transport flows and prices”. Air Cargo Europe, the international airfreight conference, will be tackling the topics “Advanced Data – Is the Industry Ready?” and “E-commerce in Airfreight: Possibilities and Priorities”. We are cooperating here for the first time with our partner, the International Air Cargo Association (TIACA). Young Talent and Career The subject of young talent and career is also particularly dear to our hearts. The last day of the trade fair in particular has been dedicated to this topic under the motto: Future Friday. Representatives from the economic and teaching worlds explain what professional knowledge and personal attributes they will be expecting in future from their professionals and managers, and which training and vocational offerings can be of assistance here. Pupils and students can look forward to a podium discussion on the subject of logistics manager 4.0, concluding with an interview with Thomas Helmer, European football champion 1996, who will be talking about his career with all its highs and lows. Hall focus areas We are now in the trade fair halls where transport logistic will be taking place. A trade fair hall covers approximately 11,000 square meters. I am constantly surprised at the transformation a hall such as this undergoes between the first day of setup until shortly before the event. The transport logistic halls are dedicated to particular topics or industries. For example, Hall B1 is dedicated to airfreight, Hall B2 to IT and Hall A6 to the freight transport systems. Logistics and services can be found in Halls B3 to B6, A4 and A5, among others. 2 Air Cargo Europe We are expecting 200 companies from more than 40 countries at Air Cargo Europe. These include, for example, new exhibitors from the Asiatic region, such as the Air Cargo Group Association and Cathay Pacific Services from China and the World Alliance GSA from Singapore. By the way, this year Air Cargo Europe has relocated from Hall A4 to Hall B1. Thereby connecting it directly with the West entrance. All the important airlines and airports will be represented at the trade fair. Including longestablished exhibitors such as the airports of Amsterdam and Brussels, Changi, CologneBonn, Liege, Linz, Munich, Paris and Sharjah and airlines Air China Cargo, American Airlines, Cargolux, Emirates SkyCargo, Etihad, MNG Airlines, Qatar Airways Cargo, Skyteam Cargo, Turkish Airlines and Virgin Atlantic Cargo amongst others. Intralogistics area Intralogistics, which was located in Hall B1 at the previous event, has been decentralized and spread across five halls. Our objective here is to offer exhibitors the opportunity to tap into new target groups. In this connection we are also continuing the tie-in with CeMAT, which is presenting for the second time now under the “CeMAT@transport logistic” banner. The collaboration between Munich and Hanover has proven its worth and we very much see further potential. Closing remarks It will be my first transport logistic. I am therefore looking forward to getting to know you and engaging in discussion with you. Together with our partners we have put together a fantastic program for you. We are looking forward to visitors and exhibitor groups from around the world and bid you a very warm welcome to transport logistic 2015 here in Munich. 3
