TOMORROW! 2nd Annual Park County Friends of the NRA Wall of Guns is MARCH 19th, 6 pm @ the Elk Horn. Pre Event tickets for the 1st Game are being sold for $10/ticket at the Elk Horn, Wea Market, Meeteetse Visitor Center and Oasis Motel. A Name will be drawn after 100 tickets are sold. Event includes some live auction items. A free spaghetti dinner, compliments of Ace Hardware and Meeteetse Chocolatier, will be given with the purchase of a ticket. Mark your calendars to BE THERE!!!!!! Last year this event raised over $7,000 for the Friends of the NRA. A meeting regarding a logging contract in Kirwin this summer will be held on April 14, 2015 @ 5:30 pm at the Meeteetse Museum. Although there is a definite need to reduce the dead trees around the Kirwin site, this could greatly impact our summer tourist & fall hunting business. PLEASE make a point to attend this meeting for the good of our community. Communication on this issue will be key. Happy Birthday George Provancha! George will be 89 years old on Monday Mar 23. He’ll be at the Senior Center for lunch if you’d like to see him. He says he never thought he’d live this long. He is very hard of hearing and his eyesight isn’t so good, but considering the life he’s led, he’s in great shape! Come on by and say ‘hi’. Meeteetse Community, beginning the first of April, I have decided to give up the Meeteetse Cowboy Corner section, features and photos of Meeteetse people and events, for the Cody Enterprise. Thank you so much for sharing your stories and letting me take your photos over the last 5 years. I have truly enjoyed it and been humbled and honored to share a part of this great community we live in with the readers of the Cody Enterprise. The 23rd Annual Park County Friend of the NRA Banquet and Auction is Saturday, March 21, 2015, at the Commons in Powell. Doors open at 5:30 pm. Tickets are $40/adult, $20/kids, 15 years and under. Meal will be catered by Hog Heavenprime rib & pulled pork, plus sides. Tickets can be purchased at the Oasis Motel beginning March 9th. Come and support this very important event. Proceeds from these events in turn will go to the NRA Foundation and return to Park County in the form of Grants. Three grants have been used to improve the Meeteetse Shooting Range. "The Wyoming Game and Fish Department will be hosting an open house public season setting meeting on March 23rd from 6-8pm at the Meeteetse Senior Center. This open house meeting will give the public an opportunity to stop by and visit with local game wardens and biologists about the 2015 proposed hunting seasons for big game, small game and game birds. This is a good time to provide your input to these hunting season proposals. The Game and Fish will also be presenting herd unit objective reviews for the Carter Mtn. antelope herd (Area 82) and the Greybull River mule deer herd (Area 165). This is a good time to also voice your thoughts and desires regarding the number of antelope and mule deer in these herd units. In the Name of the Father and of The Son and The Holy Ghost” Amen 12/31/14 Meeteetse Recreation District News March 18, 2015 Open Gym will take place on Mondays and Wednesdays from 7:00-9:00pm at the school gym. Open Gym is for adults and students 6th grade and up. The Annual Easter Egg Hunt will take place on Saturday April 4th beginning at 10:00am at the Golf Course. Meeteetse Ballet Update: Classes instructed by Brittany Clarke are going on now. Please contact the Recreation District office for more information and to sign up. The Meeteetse Recreation District is offering a 6 week Kayak Safety Training Course instructed by Molly Potas. Classes will take place Sunday evenings from 6:00-8:00pm. The cost for this class is $90 and is limited to 4 participants. Please sign up at the office. We provide weekly transportation for members of our community; whether it be for groceries, household supplies, or medical treatment. The bus goes to Cody on Thursdays leaving at 8:30am. Please schedule your trip with the Senior Center (868-2622) or the Rec (868-2603) by Wednesday if you would like to make the trip. The cost is $5.00 per session. The MeetRecKids After School Program is open to students in grades K-5 and takes place Tuesdays and Thursdays from 3:20 – 5:15pm. The cost is just $50.00 per calendar year. This charge also covers the Summer Program. Meeteetse Recreation District has Annual Membership Passes available! Your pass will allow you to participate in all recreational activities offered. The cost for membership passes are as follows: • Senior Membership (Age 65 & up) $100.00 per year • Individual Membership $200.00 per year • Family/Couples Membership $300.00 per year (Parents and child(ren) thru age 18) We have fitness room passes available for $25 for 30 uses and swim passes $40 for 30 times! They are: “The Case of the Halloween Ghost” and “The Case of the Coyote invasion” MEETEETSE MUSEUM DISTRICT MINUTES OF THE BOARD March 10, 2015 Vice President Larry Todd called the meeting of the Meeteetse Museum District to order at 7:05 P.M. on March 10, 2015 at the Belden Museum. Roll call: Board members present were: Lili Turnell, Larry Todd, Lynn Sessions, Mary Jane Luther and Mervin Larsen. Museum director David Cunningham was present. Jim Allen was absent. Consent Agenda: Mervin Larsen moved to approve the Consent Agenda. Lili Turnell seconded the motion. All voted aye, motion carried. Citizens Open Forum: None present Additions to the agenda: No additions to the agenda. Lynn Sessions moved to approve the agenda. Lili Turnell seconded the motion. All vote aye, motion carried. New Business: Demographics report: Director David Cunningham presented a report prepared by staff. The report included visitor home locations, day of week, time of day, special events and groups. MAP Governance Self Study: Larry Todd explained the meeting of the assessment team. This included a self-test of collection documentation and record matching to items in collection. The initial assessment turned out better than expected. The board took a quiz on knowledge and ethics for museum boards. Discussion resulted in the board agreeing to develop a training manual for new board members. The assessment team will summarize the quiz results and write up an assessment. Ongoing Business: Video recordings: There was a discussion on video recording of meetings. No interest had been shown in the recordings. Lili Turnell moved to discontinue the video recordings. Lynn Sessions seconded the motion. All voted aye, motion carried. Executive session: At 8:00 p.m. Mervin Larsen moved to go into Executive Session to discuss director evaluation and staff salaries. Lynn Sessions seconded the motion. All voted aye, motion carried. Open session resumed at 9:10 p.m. Action from the Executive session: Staff salaries: Directors salary: $46,350, Collection Managers salary: $33,000, Archivist/Bookstore Managers salary: $11/hour and Visitor Services salary: $10/hour. Salaries will go into effect starting April 1, 2015. Lynn Sessions moved to approve staff salaries. Mary Jane Luther seconded the motion. All voted aye, motion carried. Committee Reports: None For the Good of the Board: Dr. Todd has been appointed as a member to the National Register Review Board for the State of Wyoming. This is a collaborative effort with Dennie Hammer taking the lead. June 1, 2015 - Student/Employee Training (mandatory)-9:00am @ Town Hall Meeteetse Youth Work Program Summer is right around the corner and we are sure you are gearing up for a busy summer season. We would like you to consider joining our Meeteetse Youth Work Program for the 2014-2015 year. Our goal for the program is to provide youth work experience and provide businesses the extra help they may need and cannot afford. The program pays for the youth wages and the businesses agree to help provide our youth with a learning work experience. The Meeteetse Youth Work Program Board is now requiring a $250.00 Business registration fee. The fee is due to the Town of Meeteetse on March 1, 2015. The fee will help with the initial program costs and help leverage private donations and grant dollars. The funding for the program is changing and it is important to show business buy-in. Businesses are also required to sign a contract with the Town of Meeteetse and sign the Meeteetse Youth Program Guidelines. If you are interested in the program please complete a job description for the positions you may have available. The job descriptions can be emailed to [email protected] or dropped off at the Town Hall. Please provide your job description by April 6, 2015. These job descriptions will be handed out to the youth on April 11, 2014. Please bring your signed contract and Meeteetse Youth Program Guidelines to this meeting. Meeteetse Job Interview and Enrollment will be held May 11, 2015 @ 5:30 at the School Gym.
