Extra-Curricular
The year 5 boys did well to get to the finals of the basketball tournament on Thursday 26 March, playing against Burley
Woodhead. The team were well organised and played a good clean match. The match was even until the last quarter, when the
opposition surged ahead with the final score being Burley 8 - Menston 1. Commiserations, but well done for your effort and
determination. Stella Ashworth
Easter Egg Competition
Winners of last term’s Easter Egg Competition were: James Neal, Lily Edwards, Dulcie Bagnall, Eleanor Green, Matilda Baldwin,
Rose Gladman, Sophie Lambert, Sophie Robson. Best Effort: Duaa Mahmood, Lydia Doran, Billy Barker, Emily Wright, Harry
Baxendale, Lewis Bedford, Samuel Turland.
Care Club children participating in extra-curricular activities
It would be very helpful if parents/carers would inform Care Club staff at the start of each and EVERY half-term (or before
a new activity starts if mid-term) of a planned attendance at an activity after school on a day their child is due to attend Care
Club as well. We need to plan our daily Collection List in advance and allocate staff to collect children from clubs at different
times and in different places around school. Your co-operation and help is much appreciated. Thank you. Heather Searle,
Manager.
Nut Allergies
In order to care for children with life threatening allergies we ask that you do not send any products containing nuts into
school. This includes sandwich fillings, snacks, chocolate bars, biscuits or marzipan. Even a small trace of nuts, passed via
children’s hands, furniture etc can cause life threatening allergic reactions. We thank you for your cooperation as we
continue to do our upmost to care for all the children at our school.
Staff Vacancies – Casual Lunchtime Supervisors
We are looking to appoint Casual Lunchtime Supervisors to work as part of a team to provide high quality dining and play
experiences for all pupils during lunchtime, within a happy and caring environment. Lunchtimes at Menston Primary School
are carefully planned to offer children a range of opportunities to develop social, creative and physical skills. Provision
includes a Play Pod to facilitate imaginative and co-operative play (Loose Parts), a craft area and games shop. The post would
suit someone who is looking to develop experience within a primary school with a view to building the skills necessary to work
as a teaching assistant. Further details and an application form can be obtained by contacting the school Business Manager,
Val Mooney by phone on 01943 873180 or by email [email protected]. Closing date: Friday 24 April 2015.
School Meals - £1.60 per day, £8.00 per week
The cost of school meals from Monday 13 April – Friday 22 May (half term) is £46.40, and from Monday 13 April – Thursday
16 July (full term) is £100.80. Please make cheques payable to: BMC (School Meals).
