Invitation to participate
The Mahatma Gandhi Institute is organising the 34th Salon de Mai from 27th May to 7th June 2015.
Artists of the Republic of Mauritius are invited to participate.
Conditions of participation
1. Participants should be of Mauritian nationality and should :

have undergone a minimum of 3 years study from a recognized Art Institution
OR

have ten years’ experience in the field
OR


have hosted at least solo or group exhibitions
OR
be regular practising artists
2. Works should be original and should have been executed during the previous two years.
3. Wherever any specific display is requested by the participant, he must bring his materials and all
relevant information must be given in the participation form.
4. A panel will be responsible for the selection of the artworks. The decision of the panel will be
final and without appeal. Only one work, if selected, will be displayed.
5. Participants will be responsible for the transportation of the entries to and from the venue. The
works of art retained for the exhibition shall be taken away within a week after the closing date of
the exhibition.

6. The Mahatma Gandhi Institute will undertake the display of artworks and decision of allocation
of space will be final.
7. Works displayed will be covered by an insurance during the exhibition. Works not collected
within a week after the closing date of the exhibition will not be covered by insurance and the
Mahatma Gandhi Institute will not be liable for any loss or damage.
8. The Mahatma Gandhi Institute reserves the right to reproduce the selected materials for
advertising and promotional purposes.
9. A levy of 15% will be retained on any sold work.
Interested participants should send a letter of interest either by post or email ([email protected]) or
fax (433 2286) and collect their participation form which may be obtained at the School of Fine Arts,
Mahatma Gandhi Institute or may be downloaded from the Mahatma Gandhi Institute’s website
(http://www.mgirti.org).
Closing date
Participants should send participation forms, photos/digital image of three works and a detailed C.V to
the School of Fine Arts, Mahatma Gandhi Institute, Moka by 24th April 2015 for selection.
No late entry will be accepted.
