Body Image, Self Compassion and the Non Diet Approach: A workshop for health workers The non-diet approach is the most helpful, least harmful method for those in the counselling professions to assist people with weight and body image concern. It should be a part of every health professional’s skillset. You are invited to a day of learning about the non-diet approach and how to this model in your one-on-one clinical practice. This practical workshop is perfect for psychologists, counsellors, social workers, General Practitioners, nurses and health coaches who work with individuals in private practice and weight management settings. About the presenters: Fiona Willer, APD, is the author of ‘The Non-Diet Approach Guidebook for Dietitians’, and coauthor (with Louise) of ‘The Non-Diet Approach Guidebook for Psychologists and Counsellors’. As well as running a private practice and lecturing at Queensland University of Technology (QUT), Fiona runs non-diet approach workshops for dietitians around Australia, including at the 2013 DAA national conference. Fiona is engaged in active research of adoption of Health at Every Size ® approaches by Australian dietitians. As an advocacy leader in this field, she recently represented Australia in contributing to the HAES graduate curriculum for the Association for Size Diversity and Health (ASDAH). Fiona is a proud member of the DAA and ASDAH. Louise Adams, Clinical Psychologist, is the founder of Treat Yourself Well Sydney, a specialist psychology clinic for weight, eating and body image issues. She is the creator of Treat Yourself Well Online, a Member of the Australian Psychological Society and a proud member of the Association for Size Diversity and Health. Louise is determined to make a difference in changing society’s perceptions of dieting and body image, She believes that people can be healthy and happy at a range of different body sizes. She is for body diversity and hates fat prejudice. As well as her work with individual clients at Self Essentials, Louise conducts workshops and conferences for the general public and health professionals interested in weight management. She also speaks with the media and has appeared in magazines, newspapers, radio and television to help spread the message. She blogs, she tweets, she never shuts up about these issues!
