Christmas Treasure Hunt 28 December
This event proved very popular as 10 teams arrived to take up the challenge of the treasure hunt through
East Wittering village. Some were on foot, some horseback and some cyclists too which made for a good
party atmosphere. The weather could not have been kinder with bright sunshine and not too cold as the first
teams set off on their journey. Each team was given a list of twenty questions to answer on the way round, a
list of directions and a map. The course took about an hour to complete, about one third off road. Once
everyone was back at the horseboxes we enjoyed hot drinks and buffet food supplied by all the competitors.
Everyone got fifteen or more questions right and there were special Christmas rosettes for all.
Thank you to everyone who came along, I hope you all enjoyed it. A special thank you to the volunteers, Sue
and Jim Stokes and Roger Parsons for stewarding the road crossings and to Paul and Pauline Fuller who
helped clear up the horse pooh from the roadside around the horsebox parking. Here’s to next year.

Tip of the Month
Not sure if you are under or overfeeding your horse/pony and it has a coat on it like a Tibetan yak disguising
its shape have you tried using a measuring tape? A rough guide to weights is usually displayed on the back
of feed sacks to give you some idea and by using the tape you can see if their weight is approx. right for their
height. Also if used on a weekly basis it will show if their weight is going up or down – no point in feeding
more than they need but, unless they need to lose weight, you don’t want to be faced with a welfare case
come Spring when their rugs an coats come off. Remember to be as careful with your scoops of feed when
your open a new bag as you are when it is starting to run low – amazing how much money you can save by
actually weighing how much your scoop holds and sticking to the recommended amount. Lets hope the rest
of the winter is kind to us – snow only looks good on Christmas cards !!!!!
