2015 Ruth Shack Leadership Award
Leave A Legacy and The Miami Foundation share a passion for exceptional leadership. Each year, the
Ruth Shack Leadership Award honors an emerging leader who embodies the qualities for which Ruth
Shack is known: leadership, ethics, dedication and service to Greater Miami.
Ms. Shack served for three terms on the Miami-Dade County Commission and for 24 years as
president of The Miami Foundation. During that time, she championed a number of community service
efforts like Leave A Legacy. She is one of Miami’s most courageous leaders, having demonstrated her
passion for our community throughout the years.
We invite you to nominate someone today who you feel is deserving of this recognition.
Criteria
Nominees must be age 40 or younger who live and work in Miami-Dade County. They may work in any
field or economic sector and should clearly demonstrate the following:
 Impact on improving the quality of life in Greater Miami
 Dedication and ethics that have inspired and attracted involvement of others
 Commitment to advancing civic engagement and public service
 Support, voice and advocate for the underrepresented
 Bridge building among diverse groups
The Process
 Nominations must be received by Thursday, February 19, 2015 at 4:00 pm.
 The selection committee includes representatives selected by Leave A Legacy and The Miami
Foundation
 The winner will be recognized at the annual Leave A Legacy Donor Next Door Luncheon on
May 14, 2015.

Leave A Legacy is a community project of The Partnership for Philanthropic
Planning of Miami-Dade County which works to increase charitable giving for all
nonprofits. Leave A Legacy accomplishes its mission by encouraging members
of the general public to create a legacy through charitable giving.
