Job Summary
The Fiji Partnership Manager and Assistant Manager will lead and develop a brand new international project involving a
leading Australian social enterprise and a Fijian microfinance institution. SEED’s second international project, the Fiji
Impact Trip plans to send a small group (or ‘Impact Team’) of Monash University students to Fiji over the summer of 2015/16
to participate in a group internship program within an established Fijian microfinance institution.
This is a truly unique opportunity for passionate students to make a project their own. On top of invaluable project
management experience, these roles offer in-depth, practical insight into the workings of a real world microfinance
institution. The Fiji partnership managers will also have the rare chance to network with both domestic and international
microfinance industry leaders while learning about the dynamic and rapidly evolving world of microfinance.
The two managers will be responsible for liaising with SEED’s partner organisations to construct the internship program, as
well as recruiting the team of travelling interns. They will then be tasked with facilitating regular meetings and workshops
to ensure the Impact Team is adequately prepared to make a valuable contribution to SEED’s Fijian partner. The managers
will also be involved in arranging core logistical matters such as flights and accommodation.
The successful candidate will commit to travel with the Impact Team over the coming summer. SEED endeavors to obtain
external funding to cover travel costs, although this is not yet certain. When on the ground in Fiji, the manager will serve as
the leader of the group, ensuring tasks are completed effectively, efficiently and on time. Applicants will learn more about
the specifics of project work during the interview process for this role.
Applicants do not require in-depth knowledge of the microfinance sector; SEED and its partners will provide all necessary
background information. First and foremost, SEED is seeking individuals with ambition, drive and a passion for social justice.
The applicant must also have excellent verbal and written communication skills, as well as a penchant for organisation.

Responsibilities

Regular Skype and email liaison with the two organisations involved in the Fiji partnership;

Carrying out recruitment processes for the Fiji Impact Trip;

Facilitating Impact Team meetings and workshops throughout semester 2 to carry out preliminary work for
SEED’s Fijian partner;

Liaising with SEED’s Sponsorship team to assist in securing finances/grants for travelling members;

Arranging logistical matters such as flights, transport, accommodation and food within Fiji;

Leading the implementation of project work in Fiji;

Regularly communicating with the Director and Assistant Director of Microfinance;

Attending all SEED events wherever possible;

Attending weekly SEED Microfinance meetings (Tuesdays, 4PM at Clayton Campus); and

Promoting SEED Microfinance activities at Monash University through lecture-bashing and other means.
Applicants should note that the various tasks and responsibilities can be delegated between the two managers
according to each one’s own preference. SEED allows its teams to be flexible in their approach, and encourages its
leaders to flourish via their own personal style.
Requirements

Experience working in a leadership role in a student club or similar organisation

Passionate about alleviating poverty

Empathetic; capable of recognising and adapting to cultural differences

Holds some knowledge regarding microfinance, social enterprise and development

Strong verbal and written communication skills

Excellent organisational skills and work ethic

Attention-to-detail

Creative thinker, proficient at problem-solving

Team-oriented

Reliable and committed (1 year minimum; committed to travel to Fiji over Summer 2015/16)
Desirable Qualities

Travel experience

Held a role in a non-profit environment
