Baggy Gardens - Month by Month
Tips & Tidbits Tidbits Baggy Gardens By Genia Connell Spring is the perfect time to learn about seeds and plant structures. Each year, my students sprout seeds in plastic baggies in order to learn about seed coats, roots, leaves, stems, and more. Materials for each garden: quart-sized bag, paper towel, stapler, seeds, and marker. 1. Gather materials. 2. Fold paper towel so it fits inside bag. Label bag with student name(s). 3. Staple through the bag 3-4 times to provide “shelves” for the seeds to sit on. Add a row of seeds. 4. Add enough water to moisten the paper towel, and hang the bag up.
