EcoShield
Product Sheet
™
EcoShield sets a new standard for wood finishing systems. This kind to the
environment, state-of-the-art process creates a beautiful, durable finish. Its
water-based finishes with UV curing results in low volatile organic compounds
(VOC) and formaldehyde emissions. The UV lamps fully cure the topcoat within
seconds, significantly reducing production energy and greenhouse gases
when compared to typical curing ovens. EcoShield is standard at all Haworth
wood veneer manufacturing facilities and reduces factory VOC emissions by
approximately 180 tons per year.
EcoShield
Inherently Environmental
EcoShield finishes enable Haworth wood casegoods and systems to be certified to SCS Indoor Advantage standards. This
provides credit under USGBC LEED EQ 4.5, for low emitting materials in furniture and seating. This certification is rare for
wood casegoods and systems, but was a primary objective in the development of the EcoShield process. Final certification
will complete in early 2008.
Enhances the Beauty of Natural Wood
EcoShield provides wood with superior finish clarity and grain definition. A
balanced and even finish application is achieved through flat line finishing.
The stain application is perfectly tailored to the type of wood species. Select
species are brushed for a hand-wiped appearance and enhanced uniformity.
Instantly Durable
Instant UV curing assures immediate hardness of finish and significantly
reduces the potential for scuffing and scratching during shipping and
installation. Year after year the protection remains.
