NEWSLETTER CLASS I-V MONTH-APRIL-MAY (2015-16) IT IS NOT MORE VACATION WE NEED - IT IS MORE VOCATION. Dear Parent, Wishing you to have a gala & joyful time with your children during summer holidays. We thank you for your whole hearted support and cooperation for the new session to begin well and smoothly with a harmonious and positive bang and lots of achievements credited into the glorious account of school. We shall always look forward to your valuable suggestions for the successful accomplishment of the session 2015‐16. We would appreciate your earnest efforts in guiding the children, monitoring their performance and help them to cultivate the habit of responsibility to complete their Holiday Homework on their own where the meaningful learning will take place. We seek your co‐operation to follow the guidelines and Instructions already sent to you through a circular for the completion of homework and groom your ward in the other areas. Very Important Every working day in the school is significant for students, so make it to send your ward regularly to the school. avoiding taking leave for the first and last working day. Syllabus – To make it convenient to follow the continuous and comprehensive evaluation (CCE) system of assessment, we have mentioned the skills / areas to be observed /assessed along with each topic in the syllabus booklet. Regular revision of the concepts taught in the class is mandatory. Skills like Spellings, Tables and Mental Math’s etc will be observed regularly. Now here we update you with the happy‐nings of April & May and the upcoming schedule of activities for the month of July & August. SPECIAL MENTIONS WINNER IF ROLLING TROPHY AT BAL BHARATI, PITAMPURA It was a proud and hilarious moment for MAPS winning the Rolling Trophy for the year at Bal Bharati annual event “VINCERE 2015” held from 5th May to 8th May ’15 where the school ensured maximum participation in all the events. We owe the credit for the same to the hard work of our Hon’ble Madam Principal Mrs. Jyoti Arora, students, parents and the staff. AWARD CEREMONY (9.5.15) School organized the Prize Distribution Ceremony for the Excellence in Education for the session 201415. The programme commenced with the auspicious ceremony of lighting the lamp by the Hon'ble Chief Guest on the occasion Dr. S.K. Garg, Principal, Deen Dayal Upadhyaya College, University of Delhi, Chairman of the school Sh. D.N. Arora and Principal Mrs. Jyoti Arora. The prize distribution ceremony started after a brief presentation on the achievements of the school and a cultural dance presentation by the children, witnessed the scholars who showed their excellent achievements in academics for the session 2014-15. The scholars of the session were felicitated with trophies and certificates of excellence by the Hon'ble guest encouraged them to work hard to realise their cherished goals in future too. The worthy Chief Guest, Dr. S.K. Garg acquainted the students with five important parameters to attain success and suggested to put the students in the driving seat to create leaders, enhance communication skills and be fearless youth who are persons of integrity and are committed to the society. He also encouraged the students to enhance their knowledge in wider aspects which is the need of the hour. The event culminated with vote of thanks to the chief Guest and the parent community for their gracious presence which proved out to be an inspiration for all to show the best of the talent. JUNIOR INVESTITURE CEREMONY (14.5.15) The Junior school council members were appointed at the Investestine Ceremony organized at Mount Abu Public School. The young leaders brimmed with gratitude for being provided with the platform to explore, experience and excel in the leadership skills. The ceremony witnessed hoisting of the school flag followed by singing of the school song and an English inspirational song. Giving away of badges to the students for the post they would shoulder & blessings by the honorable Principal ma'am who congratulated the newly appointed council members and guided them to follow their duties and responsibilities with the atmost sincerity and devotion. It ended with the promises by the School Captain Aditya Rohilla & the Discipline Captain Nidhi Sharma & vote of thanks by the co-ordinator. EARTH DAY CELEBRATION A cleanliness drive was undertaken by the students of class - IV on 1st May,2015 in the school campus itself to mark the Earth day Celebration. Under the drive the students planted herbal saplings, cleaned the school campus, made posters. A rally was also organized through which students made an effort to make others aware & concerned about cleanliness. This initiative undertaken by the students was really praiseworthy. All the students took a firm determination to keep the environment clean. Students were very enthusiastic and it also helped in enhancing their awareness about cleanliness and team spirit. I/H EXTEMPORE COMPETITION JUST A MINUTE (11.5.15) Admiration comes easy to a person who is endowed with the fine art of public speaking and the grace of eloquence. “Just a minute “ Inter house competition the held on 11-05-15 in MAPS, bore a testimony to the above famous words. The variety of topics were given on the spot and the speakers were judged for content, voice modulation ,confidence ,originality and creativity. There were four speakers from each house. Two from class IV and two from class V. The participant impressed all with their vibrant energy and finer points of public speaking. The first position was bagged by Anya (IV B) of Gandhi Bharti of Gandhi House and third prizes went to Riddhima Bhalla (IV –C) of Tagore house. ENHANCING SPEAKING SKILLS As follow up of the daily speaking activities, which are meant to improve the speaking skills and build the confidence of the students. Poem recitation was held on 12th & 13th May for class I & II ensuring 100% participation. This not only gave them the platform to perform but also enabled them to get rid of stage phobia and come up with flying colours. I/C RHYTHMIC RHYME TIME (8.5.15) After the auditions five finalists were selected from each class who performed with high spirit exhibiting their poetic skills adorning their costumes and props SAVE SPARROW ACTIVITY In our pursuit of Save Sparrow Project, the students of class II had the awareness through attempting a worksheet & collage making with the theme how to save sparrow. It witnessed young students dressed in their favourite characters with the vibravt presentation about the character. The activity was a part of the collaborative activity. “Peep into the reservoir of knowledge”. The photgraphs and atudents choices will be shared with the parter school in UK to facilitate and appreciation of literature in each other’s country “Parents are the first teachers and teachers are the second parent to a child”. To strengthen the bond between the parents and the school and to refresh our dear parents “as partners in progress” parents orientation sessions were arranged in the school conference hall for Class I , IV and V in two different slots on 25th March 2015 and Class II and III on 31st March'2015 with welcome note by the Honorable Madam Principal Mrs. Jyoti Arora, followed by the talk by the school counseller – Parents role in education and upbringing of their ward, general awareness, personality grooming, work habits tips given by teachers. REFLECTION OF STUDENTS’ CLASS LIBRARY READINGS FOR THE MONTH OF APRIL-MAY The orientation concluded with vote of thanks by Coordinator Mrs Suneja at Primary Level and with the message that the study skills and life skills are combination of both that is essential for the holistic development of children and grow as successful individual. EDUCATIONAL TRIPS (III-IV) An educational trip was organized for class III where they had a visit to Parle-G biscuit factory on 30th April ‘15. It was a great learning experience for the students through a movie shown to them about the journey of Parle factory & the procedure of manufacturing biscuits. Class IV had a visit to the Indian Air Force museum at Dwarka on 8th May ’15 where the students had a learning experience to witness the rich collection of aircrafts used in wars and came to know about the warriors who contributed a lot the buildup glorious past of the Nation. To enhance the student’s interest in readings and assess the same, ‘Reader of the Month’ activity is held every month where the students show their creativities along with the depiction of their readings. CHARITY AT MAPS To sensitize students on humanitarian grounds towards the need of those survivors after the earthquake in Nepal, they were asked to bring minimum Rs. 100 as donation to help the victims and used stationary items were collected to assist the less privileged children associated with GOONJ- the NGO. We thank the parents for all their support to make our small ventures a success.
