The daily deliveries by our dedicated volunteers
provide more than a hot meal. They are often our
clients’ only daily contact, providing peace of mind for clients
and their loves ones.

New clients are generally
processed within two business days.
We also have congregate dining for guests who can access
transportation, at 14 of our 18 sites located throughout Stark &
Wayne counties.

Service is available to any homebound individual,
regardless of age. Regular and diabetic meals are
available, and clients work with our Social Services
department to build a personal meal plan. Hot meals, frozen
meals, sack suppers and breakfasts are available, as well as a
variety of liquid supplements (pending a physician’s referral.)

2014 will be forever known as the year of transition for Meals on
Wheels of Stark & Wayne Counties.
This year, we successfully underwent a complete restructuring
of our agency. We established our priorities: people, process,
and performance. We recruited a brand new leadership team,
consisting of Ted Watko, CEO, Melissa Coultas, Marketing
Manager, and Jay Varnes, Commissary Manger, joining Carla
Frank, CFO, and Nora Logsdon, Program Manager and
Dietitian. We increased the number of meals delivered since
2013 by 4% and increased the number of meals served since
our inception by 354,824. We reached out to our communities in
ways never done before. We made all of these improvements
while always staying true to our mission.

Funding 2014
Title IIIc: Funds are provided through the Older
Americans Act and the Area Agency of Aging 10B.
Qualifying individuals must be over the age of 60
and meet specific guidelines measured by an assessment visit by the Social Services Department
of Meals on Wheels of Stark & Wayne Counties.
We proudly provide life-giving nutrition that nourishes the body
and feeds the soul of the homebound and nutritionally at-risk in
our community, and we have been doing so since 1973. Ending
hunger has always been at the center of our mission, and we
are honored to remain the largest home-delivered meal program
in the area, serving more than 1,300 meals daily to individuals
of all ages, for better health, mobility and independence.
Care Coordination: These clients are assigned to the Agency through their case manager
at the Area Agency on Aging 10B.
Despite the challenges of the recent global economic crisis,
including stagnant federal and state funding programs and
increases in food prices, we have continued our mission of
providing meals to our neighbors in need. Even with the
challenges we faced in 2014, we experienced many successes.
The generosity of our corporate citizens remains strong. While
the names of the entities may vary from year to year, we are
extremely appreciative of this year’s major donors —Baker
Hughes, StarCon, Progressive Auto Group, Banfield Charitable
Trust, Darden Restaurants, Subaru and the Meals on Wheels
Association of America. They were vital to the capital improvements and meal subsidies for our clients. In addition, we are so
grateful to all the corporate sponsorships for our third annual
Main Event fundraiser ‘Hunger Doesn’t Take A Holiday,’
recognizing our Main Event Honorees, AEP Ohio and Certified
Angus Beef LLC, and our first ever Volunteer Honoree, Mary
Mears, for their invaluable support of our organization. This
event raised $130,000, exceeding our goal by $5,000.
What an incredible and transformative year for our agency!
Thanks to over 600 dedicated volunteers, members of our staff
and the support of the community, we were able to successfully
continue our life-saving work.
