Dear Ezra Parents/Guardians,
It was great meeting so many of our new 2015-16 kindergarten families as well as seeing current
Ezra family members at our kindergarten parent meeting! Next year we will have 3 classrooms in 1st,
3rd, 4th, and 5th grade, and 4 classrooms in kindergarten and 2nd grade. Mrs. Dinslage will be moving
back to kindergarten, and Mrs. Wulfekuhle will be moving to 2nd grade.

Kindergarten round-up will be on Friday, May 1, from 9:00-11:00 am. Reminder to current
kindergarten parents, your child does not have school on Friday, May 1.
Please check your student’s Friday Folder this week for a Boosterthon flyer. We are excited to
be kicking off Boosterthon this coming week! PTO is in need of parent volunteers for a half hour each
morning the week of Apr. 20-24 to help enter data and hand out prizes to students. If you are able to
help any of those days, please email Chris Opat at [email protected]. We are also still looking for
volunteers on Apr. 27th, the day of the Boosterthon Fun Run. Please see the following sign-up genius
link to sign up for the 27th: http://www.signupgenius.com/go/10c0448a9ab2da7fa7-ezra1
As the spring weather begins and more students are walking to and from school, please
remember to demonstrate safety while driving in and around school zones. Please remember to drop
your children off along the curb, pull up as far as possible, and refrain from using cell phones while
driving through the parking lot. I’m also asking parents, if someone different or new is picking up,
please let them know our parking lot procedures. Just a reminder, please only park in open spaces to
avoid blocking in parked cars. Thank you!
Have a great weekend!

Soon we will begin the process of creating class lists for
the 2015-16 school year. When we create class lists, our
primary objective is to provide positive experiences for
all students. We work to create balanced classrooms
that address different personalities, abilities, special
needs, learning styles, and peer relations. Our teachers
are very thoughtful in their student placements. A
variety of school personnel (specialists, counselors,
interventionists, etc.) are asked to provide input where
appropriate. The teachers know the children in the
school environment and obviously have unique insights
into their social, emotional, behavioral, and academic
needs. We recognize that you value your child’s
education and can offer valuable insight into your
child’s classroom placement. However, I do ask that you
do not request a particular teacher; rather your request
must address your concerns about specific needs of
your child. Please submit a letter to me by Apr. 17, 2015,
in writing or by email ([email protected]).

SAFETY NEWS—It is important
for us to be sure that we are always
ready for any kind of emergency at
school. We practiced a tornado drill this
past week, and we practice fire drills
each month. On Friday, Apr. 17, we will
also practice a bus evacuation drill. Bus
drills are a federal and state government
requirement and we are required to have
two per year. We make sure our students
and staff have practiced what to do in
these emergency situations.
