HOW TO REGISTER for 2015 Summer Music Courses and Workshops at ASU Current degree-seeking students: If you are already enrolled in an undergraduate or master’s degree, follow the regular registration process. Go to MyASU and follow the links. You may register for classes until the first day of class. New degree-seeking students: To apply for the ASU Master of Music in Music Education, go to the School of Music website at: http://music.asu.edu/admissions/grad/applying/. to both the University Graduate Studies (https://students.asu.edu/graduate/apply) and the School of Music (https://app.decisiondesk.com/clients/asumusicgrad/account/create). After you are admitted, register for courses online at MyASU. Deadlines: Apply for admission no later than six weeks prior to the start of the semester, about April 15th for summer 2015. The cut-off date is May 11th, 2015. Late applications may be considered on a limited basis and require a late fee. If you miss the deadline, apply as a non-degree student; see below. After you are admitted, you may register for classes until the first day of class. Non-degree graduate students, new or returning: Apply or re-apply for admission to the university only. Do not apply to the School of Music. Go to the Graduate Studies website at: https://students.asu.edu/graduate/apply. After being admitted, register for courses online by going to MyASU. You may take up to 9 credits as a non-degree student and count them later toward a degree, within certain time limits. Deadlines: Apply for admission at least 10 business days prior to the start of the semester, about May 11th for summer 2015. Late applications may be considered on a limited basis and require a late fee. After being admitted, register for classes until the first day of class. Non-credit, non-degree (CEU) students: Simply sign up for classes electronically at: https://www.regonline.com/muedworkshops2015 No further enrollment in the School of Music or University is required. Deadlines: You may enroll up to and including the first day of class. Registration fee is discounted for those who register by May 1st. NOTE: CEUs are clock hours. CEUs are not graduate credit and may not be converted to graduate credit at later date. Check with your school district to determine whether CEUs may be used for salary or career advancement. REGISTER EARLY TO GUARANTEE A PLACE! WHY REGISTER EARLY? Registration goes up by $25 after May 1st for CEU participants. Space may be limited, particularly in technology and rehearsal techniques courses. Courses are offered based on enrollment the week prior to the course. (Note: Total enrollment figures are not publicly available and vary by course. If you have questions about whether a course will “go,” contact [email protected] the week prior to the course.) Additional Information Tuition and fees: Graduate tuition 2014-2015, in state = $_758, 1 cr; $1,516, 2 cr; $ 2,274, 3 cr. (does not include fees) REDUCED SUMMER 2015 TUITION (Graduate Credit)! The university has lowered summer tuition from the rates above by more than 20% to the following: $589, cr; $1,178, 2 cr; $1,767, 3 cr. (does not include fees) CEUs (non-credit workshop registration) $175 for one-week (or shorter) workshops and courses. $375 for Kodály/Orff Review courses $395 for Orff Masterclass $595 for Kodály/Orff certification courses (2 weeks) A $25 discount is available for CEU students who register by May 1st. PARKING Parking is available on a fee basis in lots surrounding the ASU campus. We negotiate one-week and two-week parking passes with ASU Parking Transit. In the past, the cost of the pass has been $20 per week; summer 2015 rates have not yet been announced. Parking passes can be obtained by going in person to the ASU Parking and Transit Office in the week or two prior to the course. Ask for “Music Workshops” for the particular week or weeks you will attend. Please do not request a pass for longer than two weeks or for the entire summer. Parking and Transit provides these special passes for short-term students only; no exceptions! If you are attending multiple short courses or workshops and wish to purchase more than one pass, ret urn to Parking and Transit and purchase the second pass in the week prior to the course. HOUSING Several inexpensive hotels are located within walking distance, within a short drive, or on bus and light rail routes that stop at the University. We will be happy to connect you with others seeking housing so that you can share rooms if needed. MEALS Various eating establishments are available in the ASU Memorial Union at the center of the ASU campus or within walking distance of the School of Music.
