FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
American Society of Plant Biologists Joins with the National Park
Foundation to Support the 2015 White House Easter Egg Roll
AMERICAN SOCIETY OF PLANT BIOLOGISTS PROVIDES IN-KIND DONATION OF EXPERTISE, THE
MY LIFE AS A PLANT ACTIVITY BOOK, AND MINI GARDEN NECKLACE SEEDS AND MATERIALS
WASHINGTON (April 02, 2015) American Society of Plant Biologists (ASPB) announced today that it will
contribute to the National Park Foundation, the official charity of America’s national parks, to support the
2015 White House Easter Egg Roll.
The White House Easter Egg Roll takes place in President’s Park on the South Lawn of the White House.
This year’s theme, “#GimmeFive,” encourages Americans across the country to share five things they are
doing to eat better, be more active, and lead a healthier life, and supports the First Lady’s Let’s
Move! initiative to help kids grow up healthy and have the opportunity to reach their full potential.
The ASPB in-kind donation of expertise, the My Life as a Plant activity book, and mini garden necklaces
will help kids dig into plant science. Like in Mrs. Obama’s garden, kids will use their garden necklaces to
grow kale which will fuel an active lifestyle. Other booth explorations and the activity book will help kids
cultivate new knowledge about the importance of plants in the food, fuel, medicine and fibers everyone
needs to be healthy and energetic every day.
In addition, the official White House Easter Eggs, sold by the National Park Foundation and benefiting
America’s national parks, are available at easter.nationalparks.org.
